Ive said this before but there are three temples of chip. People who think the sounds are whack but the songs are perfect (ocremix), that the sounds are awesome but the songs annoying (modern chip dudes) and that both are perfect and must never change (famicompo covers section big_smile)

I hate hearing shitty vst redux of ffII soundtrack as much as you, but having them mentioned in the same breath isn't so outrageous.

This idea has really stuck in my head.  I noticed I've been subconsciously categorizing stuff as:

Impressionist -- the sounds are whack but the songs are perfect

Modernist -- the sounds are awesome but the songs annoying

Purist -- both are perfect and must never change

Regardless of what actual words you use I think this type of differentiation is far more useful than "fakebit", vgm, chipstyle, or what have you.

I thought this label was called Datathrash. I'm confused as to why those all say Datatrash.
Is that so you couldn't just use/steal their work? (not that I'd ever think you'd do something like that, egr heart )

Ha, that's actually quite a good idea.  big_smile

I can take a couple pics tonight, I guess.
But all that's happening is if you set a midi instrument to, say, channel 3 in the instrument screen when you highlight the instrument number in the phrase screen it will say "midi channel 4" at the top of the screen (always 1 higher, maybe because the instrument screen channels start at 00?)

On the newest gp2x ghetto the midi channel shown in the phrase screen when the instrument number is under the cursor is one digit higher than what you actually set in the midi instrument screen.
