Received my USB link cable (aka "SilverLink") yesterday. I can now confirm that it does in fact work with TI82 and TiLP 1.6. So, no more fiddling around with dodgy parallel/serial cables.

In order to use the USB cable with TI82 (and the other supported TI calcs as well), make sure you
1) Install TiLP 1.6 or up, and the included SilverLink driver, before plugging the cable into your computer for the first time
2) Do not install any official TI connectivity software, it will not work and will mess up the TiLP install.

Shiru has released the long awaited update of 1tracker. Version 0.16 includes two new, quite unique 2-channel ZX Spectrum beeper engines, both of which were previously unavailable in editors. One is from the 1990 game Earth Shaker. It was disassembled by Oleg Origin last year. The other one comes from a little PWM experiment I did a while ago. Also, there were some internal changes, which will hopefully increase stability.

Download is here.

More details on the update can be found on 1bitnews.

fkyess it rokks

Yes, yesterday the date for Autumn Blips was confirmed. It will be on October 18th. And we're going to have a really awesome line-up this time. Not giving out any details yet though wink

For everyone wanting to play at 8bitBar's Open Line, please note that we're specifically looking for music that fits the location's bar/art café context. Non-techno/4-to-the-floor stuff is especially welcome. But don't worry too much about it, Open Line is open for everyone (except racists and other assholes, of course).

The last one was pretty cool, so we'll stick with the plan of having one each month. Which means the next one is Thursday next week (July 4th).
Also we'll have special themes from now on.

07/04 - Demoscene Special
08/01 - Summer Special
09/05 - 1-Bit Special
03/10 - Autumn Blips Warm-Up

Oh, and here's a video of Midi Man and Stereochan rocking out at the last 8bitBar.

I'd like to see

Jake, Ed & Simon
Army of 2600
nq
10k
zan (yeah i know, but...)
fluidvolt
mind body alpha
stagediver

And a whole bunch of others I can't remember right now.

Yes, xxl has done a great job porting all these engines.
I don't think xm2GTIAtr usage will be any different from original xm2tritone converter.

I'll headline if you want, no problem.

Only if you plan to use your real stage name, hehe. tongue

great stuff. very strong melodies/harmonies at times. love it.

@lazerbeat and jackary: The location will be in the center of Berlin for sure. And so far, nobody has ever complained about the sound systems we used wink As far as lineup is concerned, the event will be a huge financial risk for me already, so I don't feel like upping the stakes by booking a ton of big names. The focus should be on meeting fellow chiptuners. And everybody will get a chance to present some of their works on the big sound system. That being said, one headliner can't hurt. How about AY Riders? Been planning to organize something for them for ages. Besides that, going on previous experience, there are always a few more well-known names that show up at these events anyway.

@awesomeforce: Sure, the date will be announced at least 5 months in advance.

@cdk Would love to come. But I guess nobody will pay my plane ticket and I'm too broke to pay it myself sad I definately want to tour the UK, but it isn't going to happen this year, I'm afraid.

So in a certain ill-fated thread of yesterday (I thought it was hilarious, actually, but oh well...) some people hinted they would like to see some sort of large chipmusic gathering.

We've done this kind of scene meetings here in Berlin in 2009 and 2010, and I'm thinking about organizing another one next summer. My question is, would people from the Americas be willing to make the jump over the Atlantic and join this kind of thing? I'm thinking about a 3 day meeting, with workshops, presentations, contests, concerts, and all that good shit. Also, I'd try to get a venue that has room for sleeping places, so people can hang out there all the time and don't need to shell out additional money for accomodation.

Long story short, if you are seriously interested in taking part in something like this, please let me know, so I have an estimate of how big of a venue is needed.

edit - clarified title - lb

The mere choice of words in the OP makes me cringe. Please keep the music industry out of chiptune, thanks.

So all good things come to an end eventually. Thanks Pause for all the great music.
