I'm still hoping Super Bat Puncher gets completed.

Mine is just the email handle I've been using since 2003. I signed up for 8bc using it, so when I started posting chiptunes there it automatically became my stage name.

The origin is the name I wanted on hotmail was taken and I randomly asked my friend if he'd rather be an octopoid or a roboctopus. he answered "roboctopus" so I went with that. I've been signing up for internet sites using it ever since.

So, yeah, not much thought went into my name. I'm cool with it though.

i'd just go with trial and error.. can help you develop your own personal style

Yeah, trial and error is often a great way to go with trackers. Don't be afraid of trying crazy things and messing up instrument patches. Just start changing parameters till you hit on a sound you like. Eventually, you will develop and understanding of the parameters and gradually start making adjustments with more precision and confidence.

SSD Engage totally slay live and I'm super-ultra excited about Doomsberry!

Hype thrusters activate.

Come back! heart

Looks like it's only a 4 hour drive for me. I might have to see if I can come up for this.

Oh man, Evansville! I used to live near there when I was a child.

It's on!

Here's the daily schedule, including open mic times and visual/artist pairings!

I wrote some tutorials that talk about the WAV channel and have examples of some hand drawn wave shapes you might have fun experimenting with:

stupid question :  did anyone ever try to use bass samples on wav channel with good result ?

I sometimes use samples of real instruments on the WAV channel. I don't think it would be a good fit for bass tones, though. The samples lose clarity and you can program some really great bass sounds on the WAV channel already.

Sounds like vibrato. Probably with a different vibrato type than the standard. Could be a table with some p commands. This thread is kinda fun now. haha.

https://soundcloud.com/treyfrey/phantas … of-refresh This is a better example, that super phasey synth right after the intro about 30 seconds in. It's so beautiful and I've only heard treyfrey really nail this sound. also dem kicks

That sounds like several pulse channels playing a chord with really high V command values to roughen up the sound to me.  like VF6-ish with the vibrato type set at high frequency.  He might modulate the V commands to create a more organic phase-y sound too.

It also sounds like there is a bit of filter sweep going on there. Trey does use some post-DMG fx from time to time, so you have to take that into account.

Yooooo...so these are old but I think noisechannel.org is dying.

I'm working on porting all the old articles to tumblr because people still ask about them:

I might try and do some new ones but I dunno.
