Topic: mastering advice?? (22 replies, posted in Audio Production)
ok i used to just dump my tunes out of schism tracker, but i want to go a bit more serious now, i've changed my style a bit and i want to take it all a bit more seriously
when i listen to some chiptunes it has that warm professional tube sound on it, almost like a dream theater record or something, like when you listen to danimal cannon or any of the ubiktune guys, how can i get that tube sound on my tracks
what plugins do you recommend? do i need a good compressor like ozone?
tell me all your mastering advice please
(edit: i know you guys are busy with the election right now etc, no worries!)

I need to like your music, and there needs to be a song on the album in question that really begs me to make it into a video.
to save broken hearts i think maybe it should be you who makes first contact (presumably not just anyone's songs beg you to make them into videos)

i think trap music is a good warning against people with no creativity and no vision becoming antigenre avantgardists
(edit: and also malcolm mclaren)
(edit: zanzan maybe you could just revive vargid police . no one will associate vargid police with famicompo)

i imagine that "going mainstream" will improve the offline scene but make the online one a bit more annoying. i am in favour of it really. if a thing gets too big to really focus on then you can just zoom in a bit.
anyhow the only way this scene is going to get bigger is if more people get involved. i don't mean more people get more involved but people who aren't involved at all get in
i think CDK and blip team and soundbytes crew and 8static and everyone else are allready doing a lot of good and great things. it's not like they need to "make their events better" or "put on more events". really more pople just need to attend them. which means more people listening to chip. which means going mainstream. which means chipsongs with skrillexy bits in .which means skrillexy songs with chip bits in.
sell out now! it's your duty

Re: So you wanna rock out with MS-DOS/SB16? (161 replies, posted in Other Vintage Computers & Consoles)
i have a ymf724 pci card
some things to bear in mind about that: you can only install the yamaha drivers from windows, but you can only use the soundcard from dos (as far as i can tell). essentially this means running windows 9x and booting in dos mode, but you might be able to copy across the drivers manually to an installation of DOS
i also do not get sampled sound out of it in any DOS sample trackers with it.
the plus side is that the OPL sound is fantastic and works. but maybe it is a little more hassle than it is worth. i only chose this because my spare pc had pci slots. i am happy enough for fm tracking (just use dosbox now though) with it

1. asking people
2. on a public forum
3. to choose your titles
4. devalues your art somewhat
5. (hidden bonus track) IN MY OPINION!
