PLOF and LPOF are cool ! but you missed the point smile

SAMP xxyy  triggers sample xx at offset yy!

so you could use samples from other instruments in each other-  and more than one sample in the same instrument! AFAIK PLOF and LPOF just let you cut up one sample, and each instrument is tied to only using one sample

i think this would be insanely powerful~  a table would become just as valid a place to write (short pieces) music as a phrase,  not to mention all the wacky sound design you could do by combining (sequencing) samples at high speed!

the idea came from c64 tracking and the wavetables there... there are no samples, but you can switch between radically different tones as you wish within the wavetable. of course you don't really NEED this in a sample tracker, you can get cool sounds just by using cool samples... but i thought it would expand the creative potential a lot

just an idea anyway

xylo are titan going to do more wonderswan demos do you know? smile

no point stopping once you've got this far x-)

i don't know if we are going to see any more discussion about how to achieve that hi hat sound within lsdj in this thread

maybe it could be closed (partly just saying this because i hate trap music, but also it got pretty dumb)

Minor update: you can use SWMconvert on linux !

geekbeatradio, thanks - hope you find it helpful.

We've done 3 albums in about a year's time.

I don't make music 'for' releases though. We just make music and when we think it's pretty good and haven't released anything in a while we just do a quick release on Soundcloud and stuff. When there are a couple of songs released and our productivity leads to about 10-12 finished new songs we mostly select some songs for an album and add some new tunes to the list for an album release.

I guess we're pretty much beyond the learning phase of tracking songs, especially concerning the style we do. So the most time spend is on the song instead of figuring out how technical stuff. I guess that helps a lot as well. And that is why our first release probably took more time than the last two.

replace 3 with 15 or so (for 2010) and this describes me i suppose

the only exceptions are Horse (which was a concept album) - written in 3 days, Polyphasic Sheep (which wasn't really a concept album, but i knew the style i wanted, and i wrote the songs with the album in mind) - written in about 2 months, and the agamemnon arpmaster EP (a collab with a specific writing style used, and the songs written specifically for the album) - written in about 3 months.

hey i had another idea for an effect

SAMP xxyy  triggers sample xx at offset yy

so you could sequence samply stuff in tables (even whole beats), cut stuff up in instrument tables, combine attacks from one sample with tones from another, all sorts of stuff

dunno how it would fit in with the way piggy works at the moment though!

just throwing ideas out there

type "/join #gbdev"

are you going to play it?

Ive been trying to figure out a good lsdj groove shift to emulate that for a while.

well groove doesn't affect the speed of the retrigger command at all, so good luck sad

having artists lined up already, giving 2 or 3 months for promotion time and having some sort of crew to show up so the place isnt just you and yer moms

hey is it really a good idea to book artists and promote it BEFORE pitching it to the venue?
not a rhetorical question, genuinely wondering...

cce told me that lsdj's wav synth was additive, so it should be perfect for organs! but- what you are exposed to on the interface is (fake)-subtractive, so i don't know if you will be able to do it, maybe a triangle is about as close as you will get. sad

another update! mentions SWMconvert.exe now for those of you using the prg version

if you are not on windows and you started using the prg version but you now want to use d64, ask me and i will convert your stuff to d64.

thanks theta_frost, i hope you find it helpful. show me your sids when you're done!

probably XM rather than audio, listening to it again.. strobe's FL music doesn't sound that much like this, this is arpy and chippy like his XMs

but then those vocals don't sound like XM ??

it's really cool

there was exactly one of these guides you describe either here or at 8bc

maybe it was at 8bc and got lost forever though sad boohoo

irc is pretty simple, you download an irc client which is a piece of software which comes with a manual and/or is pretty intuitive to learn anyway, and then you use it to connect to whatever network and channels you want to visit.

stargazer unhelpfully didn't tell us what network #gameboydev is on though \o/ doesn't seem to be esper (irc.esper.net) where most of the other chiptune channels are
