dont mean to fuel the fire, but i guess it does have something to do with the debate:

what about noise musicians?

that's the plan right now. is that how you do it?

i was hoping i could record the live instruments to the NES tracks i have now, and then tweak them after i hear what they sound like. then re-record the finished NES tracks and match them up to what i've recorded.

for what i'm doing, the NES doesn't need to play back at a specific tempo, like 120. i just want it to play back at the SAME tempo each time i record it.

ahhh i see. ive never recorded audio off the actual NES. Its probably just a matter of personal preference, but I dont see the need in adding an extra step when you can export directly to .WAV from famitracker. In my opinion this sounds just as good, and gives me more control of the mixing & eq-ing, because i export each channel seperately and mix it down in whatever DAW I wish (fl studio, abelton, etc...) and THEN add guitars/drums over it.

i have had issues with getting the NES audio to sync with a click track in fl studio now that im thinking about it, its probably something there is a fix for that i havent read up on yet, maybe it will be addressed in this thread?

this way the NES acts as sort of a "click track" because i just have to play along with it.

ive never had a problem with this. i have read that there is a very slight variation depending on the speed/tempos you set in famitracker, but as mentioned, these are usually fractions of seconds. ive also read if youre using the Fxx or Dxx effects, this may throw a wrench in frame frequency, but im not exactly sure.

i usually set everything on the NES in stone before I record other instruments just to be safe. are you recording directly from the NES?

It's weird. Usually theres a lot of rustle and bustle surrounding a chip show or something like that, but I haven't heard SHIT, and I participated in both mags 7 and 8. No biggie though. Thats what the jamspace is for. Gonna bumrush that shit.  Chiptune nigs ain't nuttin ta fuck wit.

hahah, yeah i was kinda under that impression. i figured alot of the people were there to see all those vgm metal cover bands, but apparently, we're supposed to play on the main stage saturday night, so maybe theyre trying to expose the masses to some more chiptune?

i dunno, either way i figured it would be worth a shot, plus with any luck i'd get to meet some of you there.

Hey dudes,

We got invited to play it this year. Who's gone in the past? Is it worth the drive from MI? Does anyone want to split a room?

I've watched some video and it looks huge, and fun. Plus the hotel reminded me of Nakatomi Plaza, which is a plus.

We might also be looking to play some east coast dates the following week while we're there, so if anyones up for it let me know! Thanks!

i wanna get drunk and talk music with luke from anamanaguchi.

you have impeccable taste.

there i said it.

thanks for all the suggestions guys, i ended up taking e.s.c's advice and aquired a pair of used mackie th15'as.

these things are amazing, nice low end, nice highs, still trying to tweak a little to get the NES to cut through everything, but overall, the NES sounds amazing over them (and they stack on top of eachother too, which saves tons of space).

so if any of you guys come though michigan, hit us up for a show for sure! we'll provide the PA (and a futon)

hmmmm, maybe ill try the nr300's as well.

my NES is fairly noisy, but not to the point where its intolerable for me anyways, kinda gives it character in a weird way, i think that my speakers are responsible for doing a good job of filtering out a lot of junk (mackie th15A, i would recommend them for sure)

ill definitely be trying it for my guitar, that telecaster's hum is so bad sometimes.....
