A newbie who has been posting here for three years? tongue

What they mean is that you (for example) update THIS THREAD every time you have a new auction, by editing the post at the top and/or adding a new reply. At the moment you're starting a new thread every time you have a new ebay auction, and not being very descriptive with the titles.

For example, this thread:

http://chipmusic.org/forums/topic/8800/ … gbs-tr626/

.. was made in 2012, but Timbob edits the main post and adds a new reply every time he's got something new to sell. The new reply bumps the thread to the top of the list and the edited first post makes it easy to find where the latest items for sale are (ie. no need to dig through the thread).

yeah little-scale is on point with album titles.. Luxury Fuck Pumps is one I keep thinking about

Yeah. I might try composing it on protracker and then see if it plays in an emulator or something..

Gonna try making something using this on my recently acquired G3 imac:

at least it'll be *somewhat* oldskool, haha

headphone out adapters use the power connection, not the link cable connection

oops, didn't realise they had separate power and link cables!

I don't actually have one but have done a bit of research, clearly not enough big_smile

Ah you know what, I haven't forgotten about this, I promise! I'll have to try something pretty soon.

I don't think there is a way to sync using DS Lite.. unless someone wants to correct me big_smile

The background noise is there, sure, but it's not such a big deal. I get more noise from my prosounded DMG. That side is a good reference, but the best judge is your own ears, imo. I was reluctant to get a CGB after reading about it on that site, but I did anyway, and prosounded it, and it sounds great.

Regarding sync between micro and DMG, there is an official solution out there but it's pretty hard to find. I just spliced two cables (a DMG-07 and an OXY-008) based on some instructions on this forum, and it worked fine. The hardest part was actually figuring out which pins were associated with which wires on the micro link cable, since the contacts are super small. If I have time and enough interest I'll put together a definitive guide with illustrations, since I had to piece together knowledge from a few threads here.

DS Lite indeed has best screen (and probably sound too), but the port on the back is for power only, ie. you can't plug a sync cable in.

Original GBA is nice if you chuck a backlight into it but doesn't have an internal rechargeable battery (might be a preference though).

SP is good if you get the backlit version (AGS-101). That said, the audio out is through the link cable port only, unless you mod it.

Gameboy Micro is what I use, it has decent sound and a lovely bright screen (very similar to DS Lite). Might be too small for your needs though. Another possible downside is that they're probably the most expensive of the bunch to buy used, unless you get lucky. Having said that, they look super cute with their replaceable screen covers, and it's easy to get a sync cable on ebay which can be spliced with a DMG sync cable for NL1.x/LSDJ -> NL2.x sync. I'm considering getting another one!

If you make a blue matte aluminium CGB set you can pretty much have all of my money

The only meaning of that word at this point is "someone who doesn't like the things I like"

Or "someone who likes the things I like but not for the same reason that I do", or "someone who likes the things I like but dresses better than me"

You might be onto something there Egr, Maybe an IC or discrete on the board has gone bad and is shorting something. The Led is driven by a simple SR latch inside the FPGA/CPLD. Might explain why the Joey isnt starting either, dead short on the 5v line.

I'm gonna send it to you today; if it's something you can fix let me know and I'll pay for any replacement components.

Update: I had a look inside with a magnifying glass and light; couldn't see anything glaringly obvious, apart from pins 6 & 7 on the chip with "PL8810" printed on it being soldered together (but I *think* I can see them connected together in this photo I found: https://www.flickr.com/photos/gameboyge … otostream/ so I think it's supposed to be like that).

The LED lights dimly every time I try it in either gameboy. I've tried it without the front cover, without SRAM battery, and tried taking the SRAM battery out for 10mins and re-seating it, with no luck.

Ah man, that'd be so awesome. I don't have precise soldering tools at home so it's probably not a good idea for me to try it! I'll let you know.

Thanks!

I don't think the LED comes on on the cart. That said, I've found that the first time I try it, it has 1-3 lines on screen, then if I reset I get the alternating lines until I swap it out for another cart.

BennVenn: yeah, still nothing! It works without a cart plugged in (and with my EMS 32M cart) but doesn't come up at all when the 64M cart is plugged in. I'll have a closer look at the pcb tonight, and maybe give the connector a bit more of a clean with IPA.

Tried with my girlfriend's phone and it wrote a rom and a sav to the device without a problem. Still doesn't work when I put it in my DMG or CGB though! Didn't work on GBA either.

On the DMG it's either showing 1–3 horizontal lines or a whole screen of alternating lines, neither of which are affected by the contrast control. On the other systems it's not showing any graphics at all.

I took the battery out and tested it, and it's putting out 3.3v so I'm guessing it's alright!
