thanks guys!

godinpants: yes, more doom is on the cards. i was going through some recordings the other day and found some stuff that was like a doomy version of 'lets take this dinosaur'.. so i think another minicd release is imminent! or maybe a fullsize cd with handpainted artwork, hmm.

edit: i like this forum already. much more friendly than the other forum i post on, when it comes to new people. i haven't even been told to read the rules yet!

ah, you used to post on watmm right?

yeah i might add some light drums in the middle section - i've been listening to the unreal soundtrack a lot lately and notice quite a few of the ambient passages do have some almost marching style drums here and there.

as for fattening, i've tried all i can to make the drums sound as big as possible, maybe i'll add a slight overdrive or something? hmm.

and as for the bpm, i think it's already at 180 in the dnb section, i think that's about as fast as i've ever gone! but i'll have a listen and see how it sounds a bit faster!

thanks!

thanks!

i did all of the album art on those releases, but the logo in the header was designed by a good friend of mine, orange dust:

he also makes AMAZING music:

it's almost done, gotta mix up those arpeggios at the end of the first section, i think.. and maybe add some sampled guitar at some point.

this was a mishmash of inspiration, taking my love of portamentos/pitch bend/modulation and mixing it with some dnb and i dunno, is that dubstep at the end? i don't listen to dubstep really. the middle section was highly inspired by michiel van den bos' soundtrack pieces for unreal.

this is a bit of a new direction for me, i'm not used to mixing dance music so it might be a bit muddy but this is about as good as i could get it in buzz!

ok, just thought i'd chuck a couple of releases on here to show off what i've done so far.

Back To Square Wave One
the peak of my amiga/demoscene style.

City Fighter Jacky In Poke World
my latest full-length. takes the amiga style of previous work and adds some idm, 70's style electronic and psychedelic influences.

i'm working on something which takes the city fighter jacky style further into dance territory - super ridiculous prog rock style progressions with drum and bass, electro and small amounts of dubstep (?), or something.

anyway thanks for clicking on this thread!

oh and edit: these were made using buzz, not an actual amiga, i might add. hope that doesn't make me lame or anything, heh.

yep it was a crazy night! about 4 or 5 of us jumped on 10k about halfway through his set. and my girlfriend picked him up off stage, sending him crashing to the ground and disconnecting the audio somehow (?) at least that's how i remember it. i was pretty smashed, heh.

i don't think there's ever going to be another pselodux.. most people misread it as pseudolux anyway, haha!

i did run into some conflict when i went by the artist name 'modex'.. some crappy electro band from argentina popped up out of nowhere a few years ago. but by that time i'd stopped making modex stuff so i didn't really care.

I do love me a redhead.

haha! we were both quite inebriated by that point i think. i screamed ridiculously into the microphone at some point didn't i?

that was such a great gig. best soundbytes i've been to, and the best gig i've played, hands down. inspired me to write more dance stuff.

and yeah redheads are excellent

i realised the other day that spite/being contrary is a big influence on my music. i got really upset the other night when hanging out with some friends and one guy made a stab at synth music, saying that there's no point in playing it live if it sounds exactly the same as on recordings. i whinged to my girlfriend about it for a while but i went home the next day and wrote some seriously awesome synth stuff, haha!

i guess i've become so used to going against what people like, that it's become some kind of inspiration.

thought i might start posting here. dunno why i felt the need to make an introductory thread, let me know if it's against the rules!

maybe a handful of you guys might know me? i recognise a few names.

i'll try not to spam too much before i become a regular here. but here are some of my tunes anyway.

i'm not "strictly chip", i use quite a lot of chip/demoscene elements in my tracks but also take influence from kraut rock, drum and bass, popular dance music and metal.

anyway i hope to start posting here pretty often. the other forum i hang around at is getting a bit stale.
