What about when Chip flirts with pop superstars????

Just google "Chiptune compilation".  Done.

or go to boingboing and search for chiptune

Great stuff.  One thing you might want to add if you're using Vice: under SID settings pick one of the 'reSID-fp' ones for the best emulation quality. (filter distortion, compression, general ADSR accuracy)  It does take a bit more CPU power though.  I guess also putting in a bit about the two different types of SID might be useful?  (the old 6581 with the many variations and the newer stable 8580)

track off the next album. footage from archive.org

we need to get out of this mentality that square waves and arps are chipmusic property, you can hear this stuff in audio all the way back to the 1940s at least.  Many of the old computer chip designers are ex-synth designers, many of the sound drivers are written by guys that programmed synths before getting into computer music.

eh what, you can't make instruments with fixed pitches in LSDJ? (so the bassdrum is a list of pitches in the instrument table and the bass is the last free note that can be transposed)  wow, that's been a fixture of most trackers since the mid-'80s, why doesn't it support that?

marvelous

yeah double-up your bassline with a pulse channel, either stick the pulse an octave higher or detune it a bit so it oscillates.

tbh (and it's been 12 years since I did this stuf on hardware) gameboy's headphone out was always a bit sh*t for bass, it sounded better with the resonance coming out of the case speaker but then that doesn't really help you.

hey, don't diss the ant1

the next album is called "Sans Titre"

edit: actually no that was uncalled for.

it's a real small subset of chip musicians on any of these forums tbh.
