Dont "redline" anything... If its not already normalized, normalize it. if it is already normalized and there are some snips preventing the entire waveform from being any louder after its normalized, use a limiter to get rid of the snips so that the rest of the waveform can be normalized.
Like cake, only fancier.

Sorry I missed this thread... As far as I know the GBA needs to be in GB mode for it to work, which requires the cart to be the old GB 5v cart.
Using a emulator should work but I dont know if the emulator takes advantage of the serial gamelink port.... Unfamiliar terrain

I am unfamiliar with logic for live performance.
But what I used to do before I used Ableton Live for everything, is render all parts and tracks of each song into loops, and then use Ableton to sequence it live, so you can basically do realtime remixes.
Now a days with all these button controllers, its a really easy and fun way to go. Add realtime effects (filter/flange/degrader/delay/distortion etc) and it's as live as you can get without playing a melody.
