Just rca to stereo 1/8" cable.

Uhm... I'm pretty sure nano mode in lsdj is for slaving to nanoloop, not the other was around. Therefore nanoloop doesn't need to be in external mode... I could be wrong, it's been years. Either way the connectors are the same so it should work fine.

Seriously awersome lineup! Wish so badly I could go to this. Stupid other coast... Any chance there will be a live feed?

I was thinking about doing it, If wizwars or someone in charge could inform me if there is a stream or not, or would like me to try and stream it, ill try. Although, the quality will be sub-par and it will be my first time streaming anything live. There is a first time for everything I guess.

I could stream it. I just hate mario and pizza. wink

Well don't pass judgement on people... Maybe they are making dubstep because it's new to them and they are just inspired by it.

Dubstep is popular right now. This is the same with all musical trends if you've been around long enough to follow them... Fuck genres, who cares if it's trendy, good music will last longer then the genre it's labeled into. Hopefully.

We'll soon enough see sites like this and others trickle down in active members as it becomes less and less popular. Wait, did I just say chip music itself is trendy right now? Does that make it a genre? Shit! *explodes*

hey wait.... shit. hahaha!

Crashing piece of non-multitimbral shit.
I have respect for the guy. Though I still think his best work is pretty hate machine.

I actually agree with the author ... 8-bit is a stupid name for a genre. Case closed.

Correct me if I'm retarded...but I'm pretty sure you can run any med/octamed version before sound studio on a a500.

Yeah with that shield, you of course dont need the amp ic, or volume pot, all you do is solder it up and then solder on the wires for the gamelink jack. I had to do it when I was at maker faire cause the arduinoboy i brought was busted. Went to the store in the faire and got that- super easy, just needs slight code modification since there would be no mode button, mode switch and 5 leds- then again its not really modification, there are already settings in the code that make that change cakewalk.

The most important things for midi are:
- The diode - if its in the wrong way, Midi wont work
- The Midi cable / jack ... try flipping the 2 wires
- The optoisolator chip - Check that its receiving power & ground and that all the pins are going to their right place
- The arduino - Does it do the startup sequence of leds? If so then everything should be fine with that

That should do it.

i hope Scienceguy doesn't mind me stepping into his shoes here, but i sell arduinoboys, if people still want them and Scienceguy is done with building them, then mail me: Ralph (dot) nex (at) gmail (dot) com

haha. for a brief moment i thought about selling shell enclosures for Arduinoboy's. wink
maybe i still will.. simply program arduino chip w/ arduinoboy software and plug into socket.

Thats not a bad idea. I'm actually rather disappointed that people would rather buy the arduinoboy then learn something new and DIY.
All of the hard stuff was figured out, it's rather quite easy to build your own. Especially with the midivox midi shield arduino kit. I should post a tutorial on that.

in mGB mode each led should blink in response to a midi message sent on its corresponding midi channel.
IE: if you send a note on channel 1, 1 led should blink, channel 2 the led next to that led should blink etc.

if that is working, then the arduinoboy is receiving midi just fine- so it would be a problem with your gameboy cable wiring. check the schematic's instructions and use a multimeter or wire tester from the end of the gameboy cable to the arduino to verify everything is done right.... if it still looks fine, check the schematic's pin output again for the cable, might have it backwards or something.

Technically there are only 2 wires and ground needed for things to work for receiving midi messages: Clock (arduino ANALOG IN pin 0) and Data in (arduino ANALOG IN pin 1)

Looking at the end of the gameboy cable...

/ [1] [2] [3] \
| [4] [5] [6] |

1: +5volts power
2: Data in
3: Clock
4: Data out
5: not used
6: Ground (you can also use the shielded ground from the cable)

Refuse to support IE7 or 6 ... Yes I know people still use them, but upgrading to 8 is free and I just don't have the time.
