Going to leave this here because I don't think anybody else has. AHX goodness.

I'm sure it will help people who actually like the sound.

Brace for a battery life of 4 seconds. Why not install the batteries in everything properly?

FM is hard if you can't use many pre existing patches, and the sound is a little cheesy. I love it though. It's mostly a knowledge thing, because you can emulate those sounds easily on modern PCs.
Doogie Howser pianos, sonic dings, and horns...
There are other tricks, like stacking sounds for richness and improved "motion," but if you have access to subtractive synth methods they become annoying.

"Don't" is a surprising release- I hope that someone will remix or rearrange with more drums. Of note are the bell tones in "CRYSTALS" and marimba tones in "ELEPHANT."
Many of the songs only use 2-4 of the columns available. One of the "secrets" to making FM sound better than stock is to stack tones, with all the empty columns in some of these songs there was room for that sort of augmentation.

For PSG, it is a cross between ease of use and the rise of LSDJ.
For FM, see the author's notes here: http://www.sdcompo.com/voting.php?e=878 - FM is difficult. Many of the things we think of as "good FM synthesis" are either not FM or done with presets, there are very few people who are really and truly good at it.
For module tracking, the people who did not move on to DAWs or other kinds of music moved on to "newer" trackers, like Buzz, Renoise, Psycle, MPT... Songs made there are indistinguishable from similar projects in Ableton, Cubase, Protools, when done well.
The biggest reason for the difference in numbers is life, really.

*BUMP*
I can't play "don't" because I don't have the tool for mounting the disk image (for now.)
I recommend using a player that will play all that tracks seamlessly (no pause between) though some of the point of releasing this way is that you don't have to... Sounds nice with interpolation and a little bit of high EQ boost.
Vocals sound strong, but I think that's because I'm not accustomed to hearing vocals appear in your stuff.

would you rather we call it under produced techno then?
I kinda thought the point of chip was that it was to do with using games consoles/ personal computer's abilities and weaknesses to make songs, not imitating a console. where do we draw the line between chip and techno? currently at fakebit, however, if you have a better name for it, please do say so

"Maybe you're not meant to make music" is as meaningless as "I was born to do this." You either want to do it or you don't.
From a person who apologizes to people for what often is the consequences of their own mistakes, some people fuel their egos with empathy, but I know it doesn't actually solve problems.
People who want their problems solved will often get angry at attempts to empathize because they know it's no solution, others don't really want their problems solved in the first place, because it will take the attention away.
I don't think Monotron is either type but there's truly a decision to be made. I have my moments where I'm not certain why I'm making music. I've had moments when I completely stopped. I've been see-sawing all year, but I'll get through it. Or maybe I won't.
When I make myself finish something I'm not happy with and come back to it a bit later, I realize it was better than the things from my distant past which I liked more while making it.

That is indeed a good post.
I haven't been able to find the video where Diane Warren showed her private songwriting space. Take a moment to google if you aren't sure who she is.
Prior to that video, the only other person allowed in that room was the piano tuner. The piano is mic'ed in the center of the room. There is a bookshelf stereo with a cassette deck for recording. The room is a cake of dust and C10's. 1 in 100 cassettes are sent to L.A. or Nashville to become pop hits. The remainder collect dust, saved for revision or go to the trash.
Remember in particular that 1 in 100 when you delete scrubbed ideas.

My Dad's an incredibly strict Muslim and music is discouraged in Islam, so the only music I could get away with listening to growing up the sound of my video games.
Make sure they never get to see the "video games are/aren't art" threads.

My full name (OmOchoa) comes from a misspelled version of the annoying Sonic tutorial characters name Omochao. So yeah...
If you never got the pun...
Omocha = Toy
