Hmm, I have a question. As far as I remember, there are multiple compilations with 8bc/8bitcollective in the name around. How is that handled legally? As I understand it, most predate the registration of 8bitcollective as a trademark, so if I contributed to/curated one that should be no problem since you can't extend copyright claims to the past. However, I guess continued distribution would be a problem?

A trademark claim and a copyright claim do not work the same way- a trademark is in effect for as long as its owner is exploiting it, so unless Jose has another 8BC business out there, his trademark is stone dead. Trademarks are also limited geographically so the different "AAAA Carpets" places in different Towns can't sue each other.

I do know one non-musician who names his PCs for more than just the network, and I understand why- when you put something together with your own hands or modify it to a point where it becomes unique, you feel a personality in it. After a while there can be literal organic differences between otherwise identical pieces of kit.

Naming your instrument comes from the proverbial Blues hobo who has nothing to live for but an old instrument that takes on a personality with all the nicks and scratches.

While I understand, I haven't done it myself.

Another nifty idea, load an old ipod with each album you are selling, to people can plug in and listen to albums while at the table?

That's good to do even if you're going to a party and someone asks about what you do, you can show then right away.

"Please don't promote something I created in a way that could actually help me" isn't the same as "please don't rip off my stuff without attribution or payment."

This'll take a while, yes. In better news, no glowing is expected, if amyone worried.

I think ess is one of those cards that emulated opl instead of having the real deal, I owned one but the computer that had it died

Bump with gratitude. I just got my hands on some of this stuff by "accident" of helping my brother move, but I have no space to set the stuff up right now...

There are only 5 days left.

Don't get caught out by the time zone difference, though people do every time...

You can fold a sample over a piece of cardboard with the business part showing, but then your table will look  like an Old Navy.

A lot of that sounds like it came from http://diymusician.cdbaby.com/2012/08/7 … h-display/

It may be your branding as a musician, but you're  still selling stuff so the principles are the same.

Sell what your customers want. Appeal to the full range of ages and genders present and full and empty wallets too. That's all I can say, really.

Get some wall racks from a closed/closing store.

You can take any speech source and give the impression of singing with the  appropriate use of a pitch shifter, see http://forum.renoise.com/index.php?/top … ntry281786

http://www.puremagnetik.com/ have lots of circuit bent this and that available, and though I like some of their samples quite a bit, you may have better results from buying toys secondhand and recording results on your own.

I regret not having my Yamaha PSR  after learning about circuit bending...

Peaches hasn't been well lately but she's getting better and makes a great Twitter avatar. She was among the few things we were able to inherit from my late father-in-law, so she's treated very well.
