Time, effort, and talent (which to me, is only as relevant as anything genetic is) have so little relation that they are not worth considering. I think people should be willing to try things they wouldn't normally do to strengthen composing but there are no correct answers. I'm surprised this thread is still alive.

I expect the point of this project is similar to the rpg Progress Quest- that in the long run you can find someone who hates every single aspect of our music even among its own fans.
I don't think this was announced as an uncurated project and what I read in the complaints is, "music would be great if only people would stop making so much of it."
That doesn't mean we should like everything that comes out, of course; I recognize that I disagree with most "tastemakers."

I feel best when I get to work on something for a week.
Revising is always okay, I had teachers that preached the importance of being open to the idea of editing anything and everything you've ever done at will. Despite that, I would never suggest that to ant1 because whatever he's doing works well enough to me.

Omni chords have distinct tone that could go well if used carefully, they play like an autoharp, take some getting used to.
You clean the touch surface with an eraser, like a stylophone.

Chiptune Superstar (by xaimus I think) suddenly comes to mind. Iirc he was dared to write in a style he hates, so he made punk-pop.

A teacher I had once asked, are there any pink Floyd tunes faster than 120 bpm? I think the answer is, yes, but they're all from Syd Barrett's era. I think porcupine tree have 3 or 4 faster things....

I like all the tempos... I've been pretty big on mid-tempo lately just because everybody wants to be fast or slow...
