You can now add your name to a pre-order list to reserve a cartridge for yourself. These will be a limited release, so obviously only one per person at this stage. See the first post of this thread for details.

LO!

Initially, piano for five years, but I hated practising and was more keen to experiment. I've been playing acoustic guitar off and on for 15 years. I started tracking my own electronic music near the end of 1998, aged 14 and haven't looked back since. I've only been doing chipmusic for about two years and am still learning more and more about tracking and music creation in general, all the time.

As Vytantus points out, it will depend on the type of cartridge, but it does sound like a battery issue to me. That'd be the first thing I'd check.

hey, count me in for this, Tinctu! big_smile

Added a picture of how the cartridges will look. smile Open the image in a new window for a larger view.

I'll be there with 8-bit bells on!

Sounds awesome! I'll be there! big_smile I'm keen to try out some circuit bending.

Pleasant listening experience. big_smile Kind-of chilled minimal house music. Nicely produced too.

I am planning to release a Sega Megadrive/Genesis EP on a physical cartridge in the near future.

The EP will consist of 8 tracks and will cost $30 US. Keep in mind that the cost of producing a cartridge for the Megadrive/Genesis is a fair bit higher than to make, say, a NES cartridge.

To give you some idea of what it will sound like, I've put up a 30 second preview of each track on my website. You can check it out here. Just use the flash player at the bottom right of the page.

UPDATE:The first round of pre-orders is now closed and I will be contacting everyone who has a pre-order in the next couple of days to arrange payment and shipping.

I will probably also release the ROM file for a small price after the initial cartridge release. smile

This work is inspiring! I love the glitchy drums near the end of the first track. I'm now working on a Sega FM track that has no drums. Yes you read that correctly, NO drums! tongue

Thanks little-scale. big_smile

Ah, yes. I see what you're saying. But I don't write my music based on notes but on how it sounds. I don't really care what the notes are, so I guess maybe I'm not a true musician but more of an artist, creator or composer. I use sound to make music, not notes. Though maybe I'll have to investigate MML a bit deeper, since you recommend it. smile

TFM would be great if it did stuff OTHER than just FM. FM drums just suck.

Call me strange, but I actually like FM drums! smile

Shiru said he may make a genesis tracker in the future but theres no evidence this will happen soon - for genesis... XPMCK > TFM

Well, I wouldn't hold your breath for a megadrive/genesis tracker from Shiru. I just don't think he's very motivated to make one. Also, as far as XPMCK goes, that may be fine if you're a programmer, but what if you've really only ever done tracking? Personally, I am more of a musician and tracker and not a programmer at all. So, although learning MML may be a more powerful way to produce music and allow finer control over the sound and composition, I'm extremely unlikely to learn it. I write all my music by ear and typing code would definitely result in terrible music for me. big_smile
