Some retro ones here -> http://woolyss.com/chipmusic-soundfonts.php#soundfonts (right click the SF2 or ZIP icons and "save link as")
You'll need a soundfont player to use sf2 files, bs-0 is the only free one I can think of for OSX -> http://www.bismark.jp/bs-0/index.html

The red one looks really nice, too. That and the light grey one next to it would look mint with NES controller buttons.

Could you ever do a chrome one like on the silver pockets?

Yeah basically it just sounds like a regular piano-ey garageband song that's been bitcrushed heaps and not like anything actually made with 8-bit hardware.

It's beautiful yikes

It sounds exactly how you described it.

Could also start with a fast pitchbend for the pop and then a slow one a couple ticks later for the boooom on any of the tuned channels.

Personally, I'd use a sine-ish sound on the wav chan so you can shape the start of the kick synth to be clipped a lot and then smooth it out on the next frame, flipping through the frames using the same table for the pitchbend smile

it's a umm... i dunno!

i thought it was pretty tight industrial stuff tbh, what am i missing?

Maybe turn energy saving off if you're running an older version of LSDJ, or run from battery if you're using an adapter. I like how it sounds as an effect within a metal track but I think in a finished mix you'd want a more varied pallette of tones... The part where it sounded best imo was ~2:24 where it splits that heavy section right in two and adds a bit of drama.

I reckon micing the gameboy speaker would sound awesome for an effect in a larger mix or for an intro to a track, but utterly dreadful for an entire song. AFAIK pretty much everyone does line-in.

i've only ever heard the term "dance music" used as a blanket term for all forms of techno, trance and house music. which is fine, really. better than when people call any forms of electronic music "techno" tongue

i think the "holding a gameboy on stage" element introduces a great deal of skeptics and holds us all back

okay dude i know you hate anything that has more than three people doing it but this strikes me as a very silly thing to say. if you're the cool guy on stage playing the glockenspiel with a megadrive accompaniment nobody is going to think any less of you if the next guy comes up playing a mario remix off of a fluorescent pink brick. you're probably not even going to be playing the same show.

i mean in fairness i've been around since pretty much last thursday, so... blissful ignorance? tongue
