psst, i'll do 5 notes for 15

2 it's 6/8

so yeah, just put a H00 command on row C of every phrase. remember that the downbeats are on rows 0,3,6 and 9 instead of 0,4,8 and C.

also, if you see people talking about grooves in LSDJ like 6/6 or 3/3 or 4/4 remember that these aren't actually time signatures, but relate to how many "ticks" are in each step in a phrase or table. the default groove is 6/6, and the master tempo will ALWAYS relate to a 6/6 groove; so 128bpm in a 5/5 groove is roughly 149BPM, at a 8/8 groove it'd be ~85BPM and at a dumb groove like D/3/5/3 it'd be god knows what. i hope this is helpful and not confusing!!!

i like it, but for some reason they're nearly 300 bucks in australia :v

bomfunk MCs yo

sectionz records are re-re-releasing the community forum type website soon (http://www.sectionz.com/), hopefully it'll look a bit prettier when it's out of closed beta but you get the idea smile

maybe some dudes here remember it, but sectionz was the shit back in like 2002-2006. imagine a forum like this with an actual "review economy" (everything revolved around giving reviews) and about 3000 active members. it was kinda great!

How should I fix the noise channel? And what would you suggest to do when two drums should play at once?

carve some envelopes into those noise instruments and bring the volume down a bit
you can make a snare that quickly fades into a crash/open hat using tables with S commands in them e.g. start with your noise shape as something like ED and then put an S10 command followed by an S01 command about a quarter of the way down the table. a little tom-tom kinda sound on the pulse/wave mixed with a noise snare will give you a heavier snare sound

and yeah all my stuff has been recorded without a prosound, hell i even played square sounds without a prosound. fuck a prosound

Personally I get asked when I am going to do more of my other music (which is singer/songwriter (hate that title) stuff), but to be honest chiptunin' is so much more FUN!

do what i did and smash the two sides together in a barely congruous way! it's great!

When you say most composers dont fill all the chains with phases, why is this? what benefit does it have?

i think it's for live mode mainly, it means you don't have to commit to 16 bars every time you switch to a new pattern. makes things more flexible when rearranging chains in the song window too.

but i know a bunch of people who fill out all the phrases in every chain. i guess it depends on how you like to work!
