I posted an RPM record from 2009 on Bandcamp.  It is called "Scrambling for Batteries".  I was made using Korg's DS-10 and Nitrotracker as well as Renoise with Tweakbench plug-ins.

Check it out over on Bandcamp!

Klystrack, Buzz and Sunvox would all be interesting.  Also, if you have a license, Renoise.

I finished up mine yesterday.  It'll be interesting to see what people will do with the FM module.

Nanoloop come to mind immediately.  It was originally designed for Gameboy and it could be really nice on the Shield.

You could emulate LGPT, it has a Windows version.

Milkytracker also has an Android and Windows version, so it could go either way.

Another suggestion would be Pixitracker, either 16-Bit or 1-Bit.

It has a nice interface and is fairly easy to use.  It's free on Mac and PC.

I did not see this coming so soon after the M-01 release.  Something for the DS-10/DS-10+ crowd.

Also a nice post from Create Digital Music.

According to this post on DS-10 Forum, the game is already out in Japan. It'll be out in September for NA and EU.

I can't wait to hear what comes out of this.

Confirmed North America Release from Polygon!  SWEEEEEEEET!!!!  I checked the Nintendo website, and it's up.  I haven't checked the eShop to see if it's in there.  I can't wait to get it!

I've been very jealous of the iYM2151, but after fooling around with the PWM of the Osc2 of the korg DS-10, you can make 1 operator or  limited 2 operator FM sounds just like the iYM2151 on the Korg ds-10, I put up my first genesis test on my soundcloud (gxscchater), and working on a another detail genesis style track from the Korg Ds-10 plus.

I thought I saw some patch examples of basic FM over at the DS-10 forum. You might want to head over there and check it out.

in japan a few weeks ago i met up with Sano and it sounded like the "slow approval process" would require one to expect it closer to the end of the year.  Nintendo might surprise us though.

That's what I was afraid of.  I figured Nintendo was going to go through the program extensively (as they would other games/apps) for QA.

I will say that the interest in and support of the M01D's eShop release will be important, because it would dovetail into another upcoming eShop-related project from Detune that i think is pretty exciting.  i can't say much about it at the moment but i do believe a lot of people will be pleased by it.

Now THIS is interesting!  Any hints?  I know Korg has ported synths like the Polysix and MS-20 to the iPad (I believe Detune was behind iMS-20) and ported the Mono/Poly to the Reason Rack Extension program.

I was already interested in getting M01D  as soon as it came out, this is just extra incentive.

Can I buy it already or not?

Not yet.  I'm hoping it'll be out by the end of the month, but that might be wishful thinking.

Does anyone on the board know what the typical timeframe for eShop approval is?

looks the same as the ds lite version. still a rompler. not into it. it is just too cheesy sounding for me and doesn't give me enough sound control and flexibility.

Compared to the original version, The 3DS eShop version doubles the amount of voices to 24. You can make tunes with up to 99 scenes using the 8 track / 64 step sequencer and 342 sounds(They've gone beyond the original M1 voices and added voices from Korg 0/1W). It also has the ability to save MIDI song data to an SD card.

I think you can get some flexibility and control of the sounds.  Worse case, you can setup a song on the M01D and work on the tracks in the DAW of your choice.

More news from the DS-10 forum: From the thread "M01D worldwide release delayed?"

Hi all! Sorry have been absent from the forum recently. . . Harley and I have been in Japan at Square sounds festival.
Good news! We met Sano and we can inform you that Korg M01D is with Nintendo Europe and America going through E shop approval. It is coming! Soon! Yay!

I read on the Detune site they were going to update the Japanese version, so maybe they were planning on doing that and releasing the updated version to Europe and America.

real talk tho... RHYTHM CORE ALPHA 2 isnt what i would consider a great writing tool for music. it is just very limited and not very flexible.

I know the guy who made the software and I've booked him at shows in LA a number of times, I'm a big fan of the music he's made with it but I guess it would make sense that the guy who created the program and knows everything it is capable of would be pretty proficient at it...but anyway, I think where RCA 2 really shines is live performance, even if you do not want to write entire songs with it the solo mode and the live drum player can be pretty useful. But it is definitely limited, and you're stuck with the sounds that the program comes with (though as sort of a beta tester I did have the option to send him sounds that could've ended up in the final build if I would not have been completely lazy about it).

I'll second Wizwars.  The videos I've seen online show they've improved one aspect I thought was lacking.  The ability to change patterns as well as keys with the buttons.  It's definitely more of a portable performance DAW than something you'd find on a PC.  There's a learning curve to it, but it seems like it can be interesting once you get the hang of it.

These two MIDI powered devices look pretty interesting.  The first one had some nice chip sounding sounds, the second is a drum synth.

Both are $34 each.  Not a bad bit of kit for the price.

It looks like the date at the end of the most recent trailer held up!  It shouldn't be too long for the game to get released over here.  The schedule over at Detune's site still says August, so hopefully it'll be towards the beginning. Since the program's interface is in English already from what screenshots I've seen, it should be just about any bug fixes that come up and translating the manual.
