Sucks, but I totally understand sad
Android's still got shitty audio drivers anyway, yea?

Yeah pretty much. Apps like this need super low latency, which is hard to achieve on Android. Something like nanoloop can get away with some lag, cause you just hit the play button. It doesn't have to be immediate.

Naw, though at some point maybe I'll get into windows phone, cause I think it's cool. At this point It's just easier to target one platform. Especially for an app that needs such low level programming.

any audio demos? looks neat!

Yah I'll upload a demo soon! It's really good at percussion, but also arps and pad sounds. Once I add the wav renderer you'll be able to make self contained little loops.

Version 1.5 of SquareSynth is now released! Its completely revamped, with all new graphics. I'm very proud of it, thanks to Keff for his help. It now has a 4-bit triangle wave, which completes the NES sound and look that squaresynth has taken on. Audiobus is now included. Check it out!

Umm.. Well they definitely use more than one channel. But yeah they have noise, and arps. It's really one of those thing to just experiment with. =P

I had to look it up.

They just sound like random discordant sounds, with pitch bends. Personally I like the metroid cry a little better...

Well, herr, the argument could be made that part of the value of the original (new) CD was the fact that it can be resold.

I buy paintings second hand, and the reason I can do so is because I can recover my money for something more useful if I need to by selling the painting - the artist has benefitted from that added value to the customer when they originally sold the art.

Yeah I've discussed that sort of thing in the context of used games. Even though the money doesn't go directly back to the artist, it goes into the sellers pocket so he can buy more games, or CDs. Though I think resale is a bigger economy in games.

Personally I only buy CDs if I'm at a show, or if its something I can't download. Which is an attractive thing. And if its a few tracks that no one would pirate because its so obscure, it's even more attractive.

Earth Crisis is goooood shit

That's cool, I think I heard about that one. I haven't really kept up with Hardcore/Metal music for a few years, but it's fun to rock-the-fuck-out to now and then -- in between my pansy ass armchair music =P. I'll have to check it out.

I've read that gba produces aliased waveforms, through I can't confirm it. Anyway the truth is that it's probably not important. Even if you had an unmodded gbc you would adapt to the crappiness of it and make some cool sounds.

You can get a softer sound by doing fast pulse width changes. But not too fast. Like W12 W25 W50 W75 W50 W25 H00. But the tempo of the song will affect it. Also HF vibrato is soft. Of course slow attack is a good choice.

A popular method seems to be BLEP. It's fairly involved, but there's some code floating around. You'll have to do some research. You may wish to check out something called BlipBuffer by Blarg. Famitracker uses that.

I'm not sure about just filtering. I think it cant be that easy.
