I'm using a Yobo clone (re. the only clone that performs better than the original hardware) for the primary function and the cartridge slot.

It performs better than the original?  I might look into it and replace one of my NESs.

I also questioned taking the "grill" off the face of this design... so I decided to put it back.
I think it looks WAY better. I'll figure out another place in the design to integrate the "Power" and "Reset" buttons.

you could stick em in the original spots, or below the screen above the original location...or maybe to the right of the grille.  Regardless, these are awesome.

The early version looks like it has a place for an integrated Advantage or something of the sort.  Looks like it needs a keyboard...

The second version also looks cool.  I like the integrated storage and battery.  Any handles?

What led you to relocate the grille to the top instead of the front?

I like the angles on these.

I haven't used that model, but if it is anything like those from IBM in the last 5 years of the 20th century it will be amazing.  I wish I still had my 760.

If you pick one up I would like to know what you think of it.  I am now thinking of picking one up.

I've just started to refurbish some old DMG's, I was wondering if it's possible to buy replacement screens?

Maybe soon.

Or eventually.

Maybe.

No, but I am looking at old hardware, so I will take a look.  Like I said, I have seen a bunch of soft cases, but never that one.  Is it orange or pink?

coolness factor is probably higher with a complete power glove than with some buttons in a game boy.  I may be wrong, but the buttons don't really stand out as being such a distinctive feature that people could instantly identify them when seen in a DMG.

If you have a power glove i will trade you 2 sets of grey buttons for double the coolness.  I can even include a matching power switch and link port cover.

edit:  please don't kill a power glove for the buttons.

I think it might be cheaper just to buy DMG buttons than to harvest them from a power glove.

I thought they might be better in sunlight, but if you are going to be outside during the day you can probably skip the backlighting.

I understand these are supposed to be much brighter now.  Is the additional brightness useful?  I would think it might get tiresome for the peepers.

That is awesome.  I love it.

I have been wanting something along these lines for a while.  Same for the NES controller.

Magazine release could be used for something with the cart, but I can't exactly visualise what you are planning.

solid metal cases, as discussed by kitsch and e.s.c., would be exactly what I have been wanting.

Can we get a better thread title?

If you are trying to backlight buttons you might want to consider the clear silicone ones, since i think that is why they were made.

Also, thanks for all the good info, everyone.  I have an NES controller I eventually plan on adding LEDs to, and this thread should be useful with my lack of experience doing such things.

You might be able to see them better if look at the full size picture.  I believe it is just green and yellow paint with bubbles in it.  That added touch has me wanting to try the same thing for maximum bubbles in a set.  Timbob does some really cool stuff.

I think I caught that when it aired.  His asking price wasn't so crazy when compared to the "Mario" and this.

What strikes me as even more odd is that relatively poor condition examples are going for so much.

What are the downsides to the EMS carts?

the official (widows only) client software sorta sucks and some people have had issues with them getting stuck on a page. The cartridge shell is not that great.  Older ones killed batteries on game boy pockets, which should not be an issue if buying new.
