Yo - long time no post! Excuse the fairly blatant promo but I promise I'm not slacking on chip - got my MSSIAH cart two days ago and am also looking forward to getting my Yamaha CX5M II posted down to Bromley...

Anyway if anyone's in the area, come down to CAMP (City Arts and Music Project), round the corner from Old Street tube) with £6 for 20:30 to see my set. Expect Casio rave vibes

More info here!

I guess most people here don't know her anyway tongue

I LOVE MY COMPUTER! I have the promo CD of it, such a fucking crazy album.

That's what I was thinking though, I'd love to see her back on the scene.

I'm assuming everyone here knows snesmusic.org well, but I've spent days at a time flicking through it using the Random Pick button. It's a great feeling when a hidden gem comes up!

If you're feeling less adventurous, their Top (and bottom) 100 should set out the SNES music basics as well as anyone.

I like the Super-Hang On OST very much!

YESSSSS!!! How did I forget this?? Rico showed me this a while back and it's remained one of my very very favourite soundtracks of all time since. The solo at 2:50 is one of the greatest synth parts ever written. Only like four full tracks on it but fuck are they good...here's another personal favourite, the synths at 0:20 are PERFECT:

Expander is a MASSIVE tune. Don't forget the Game Gear, some simple but really charming soundtracks on there:

At the end of the day though I still think I'm an FM fan, more or less because I listen to loads of non-chipmusic (check out Les Rythmes Digitales' 'Dreamin'' for an absolute masterclass in DX7 wizadry) using FM sounds, and the Mega Drive soundtracks tie in with that.

meh..im not that euphoric about "safe play"- in the end we get less goals to watch, because teams remain in their area hoping for counter attacks. following that trend the ball will stay untouched on the middleline big_smile

Very true - the game itself was hardly dynamite. Spain were playing much more interesting football too! I always prefer the underdogs to win though (almost...Euro 2004 was both boring and an embarrassment).

SWITZERLAND - FUCKING YES!!!!! Extremely happy about that result. Spain have showed that against a solid defence and a lot of spirit, their own defence nod off entirely. It was so very nearly 2-0 too...the second set of group games begins tonight, I reckon a peak time crowd can help send Bafana Bafana into the next round.

45 + encore is probably my standard, bearing in mind you get variety in there and keep the energy high I'd say that's pretty much perfect, though it depends on the artist. A more dancefloor oriented set could easily last for 2 or 3 times that.

The world cup has been not too great so far overall, do we blame it on the Vuvuzelas or on the new ball?

Opening games are never too great! We'll have to wait for the knockout stages for things to get interesting. Even then Germany were very impressive (interestingly the Bundesliga had been using the new ball since January) and I'm really looking forward to Brazil playing the DPRK tonight...such a bizarre mismatch of teams in a World Cup I'm not sure I've seen in a while. Japan vs. Cameroon didn't exactly set the world alight either but I went mental when Honda scored.

SNES soundtracks - my favourite chipmusic ever bar none...

and hundreds more besides...

@nitro2k1 - Dave Wise is a master - these are two more of my favourites...

The artwork is some of the sickest I've ever seen.

Just convinced a friend of mine of the power of NTRQ...it deserves to be on every hard drive in the world.

Really artistic stuff, reminds me of SND and the like. A great development in Adlib Tracker music.

I can't believe this is getting so powerful so quickly, looks like my second NES now has a purpose.

ahh no, Golden Dragon in chinatown! c'mon! Ever been to cybercandy? weird asian sweets! that's covent garden, also worth a look

I admit I've never been inside, though walked past it many times - I'll give it a shot next time I'm up there. As Lazerbeat testifies though, Won Kei's is pretty amazing! Gotta say Cybercandy's pretty dope too.

Mate wonkeis is the fucking LAW. I could murder a sweet and sour pork crispy pork rice right now. I love how you have to be really agressive and rude tothe waiters for them to kind of grudgingly respect you.

The waiters are hilarious, I brought a friend from Hong Kong (who's since showed all her friends - very good sign) there and they treated the rest of us even worse than usual. I remember one of them made a joke to her about our chopstick usage (in Cantonese obviously).

Oh yeah, good/cheap restaurants is also something we are interested, thanks for the tip, my gf is a hot chocolate fiend:D

I don't know if you came to London with Chinese food in mind, but Won Kei's in Chinatown (right next to Soho) is an institution, partly because of its price (£4 for the legendary duck noodle soup). Me and my friends hang out there constantly. It's not for everyone though (very mental vibe), check some reviews online. Soho's generally great though, lots more interesting restaurants, some great record shops (SIster Ray) and more fun little shops (it's always better to discover you're own one, there's one for colourful arty toys and posters and so on that would appeal to most people here). Japan Centre and Beard Papa's are amazing if you're into Japanese snacks which again I'd imagine people here could well be (I know I am!).
