if this was started thanks to my zero outta five comment in the other thread then i'm sorry for giving the wrong impression, haha. it's just that i used to play with a few cover bands and i always found it mindnumbingly boring, only really sticking around for the chance to get better at playing... and knowing how badly we winged it with really classic songs it makes me cynical of all the other guys making money that way. i'm probably a fussy music fan because what i want from live music is to see how good a songwriter a band has, and how fully they can surprise me and make me jealous ;D old standbys do so little for me because from experience i know that they tend to be played as a desperation move, to get a crowd back on their feet - i'd rather have musicians be confident enough in their more taxing material that the crowd begin to feel it too. to me that would make a gig more memorable.

I was checkin' out flash professional earlier and it seems pretty good to me, and fairly close to my ideal way of making simple applet games. ze problem is zat i worry about paying (a lot of money) for a license if it is about to be replaced by something better - i saw an article just today where steve jobs trashes flash specifically and got wonderin' about how long it'll be supported for - any insights? was jobs just bein' a jerk? ;F

(i noticed there are a few free alternative developing tools for flash, but, well, i'm a pretty mediocre coder when all i've got is a text editor - i'd prefer to have an entire suite to work with. i never got into pure coding as such - basic and bad python is my limit)

if you have awesome polyrhythmic experimental artsy shit but choose to play a crowd-pleaser over it then your gig is gettin zero outta five stars

a sizable amount of people doing chip stuff don't wanna be taken seriously, don't wanna play live, can't really take live gameboy music seriously... i've spoken to a lot of people online who feel pretty nonplussed about there being a "chip-scene" at all - zey are mostly making music for zemselves and couldn't care less about working on one song for six months so it sounds pop-chart quality, or expanding the reach of what may or may not be a genre, or presenting an image or contributing to x, y or z. the type of chipmusician i appreciate most is the one amusing themself, and by extension me, because it's a joke to be gotten. some of the posts in this thread would be truly frustrating to somebody else but it just makes me appreciate ze goofballs more

if ya want stats - i got less than fifty buys on n0de-claw, which was always to be expected since i only put it up for money out of dim curiosity.

People I owe money are always asking me why I give my music away for free! I thought I'd put up a little bonus material each month on bandcamp, all streamable but available to download if ya pay a modest sum. Here's May's bonus junk:
