Had to take a break from this project for a while to make some quick money and take care of some things. I need to get some little things like a battery for my multimeter and some new soldering iron and dremel tips, but shouldn't be much longer until I can start working on it again and finish it up!

Btw, It's nice to see you joined cm.o, @DotAndDash and @joeteach

the best results I've gotten are not to send the video signal through the kp but send your audio through and add it to the video signal. there's a sweet spot so you have to gradually raise the volume of the audio source until you find it.

For sure it would be better to use a mixer, like the behringer xenyx 302 which has rca inputs and 2 eq band so you can experiment a little.
Also, what if you process the signal AFTER it's mixed, and then send it to the screen? I would experiment a lot if I had the gear

That's exactly how mine was hooked up haha. I had my MS2000 and Kaossilator running through a Behringer Xenyx mixer. The phono tape output was hooked up to the phono line in on the KP2, and the phono line out on that going to the television. I found that panning the instruments towards whichever side is going to the video intensifies the effect, and the volume did play a big role, I had to constantly adjust it when changing sound patches. Certain tones don't seem to affect the screen, and to get it off the full black screen I had to play around, or find that "sweet spot" as 9H05T described, to get the initial flash/glitch and then it would usually keep going for a while depending on the consistency and intensity of the video/sound input.

Here's what the flat screen looked like with the KP2,

Interesting! My video was shot on an old tube screen- I'd love to see if (and how) it's different on a flatscreen for sure.

I think the tube screen wasn't working for me because I used an rf to coaxial cable instead of standard a/v. I'll hook up an a/v converter to the tube tomorrow and see if that works.

I've been playing around with the KP2 and Cynthcart, and the results were very nice! I tried it on a super old tube tv and a more up-to-date flat screen. I didn't really get anything on the tube, but the flat screen was badass. My camera keeps fucking up, but I'll upload a video soon.

Whoa, this is pretty badass! I'm going to try this right now with my KP2, if it's any different from the KPmini's effect I'll post a video for comparison!

Haha thanks! I really love that reel-to-reel, found it on Craigslist for a great bargain. Only downside is that the reels are only 22 minutes long and they're getting hard to find.

My music space changes pretty often, but I had it set up like this for a while when I was working on some chip tracks:

NES w/MidiNES, C64 w/Cynthcart, Circuit bent Kaossilator, KP2, MicroKORG, 2x modded DMG's with LSDJ, and Fostex reel-to-reel 4-track recorder for that extra crispy sound.

Bump

For the modded gameboy color, what do you mean when you say needs work? what exactly needs to be fixed or worked on?

It's really just unfinished, I originally had RCA's and a switch for the clock control installed among the other things, but everything except the frontlight and internal headphone prosound has now been removed, and the paint job needs to be touched up. I removed the clock control yesterday because I didn't think anyone had any interest in that GBC. I'll sell it as is for $25 +shipping. It's got a functional pcb, and the case could still be used. The frontlight needs a new resistor (current one makes it too dark) and a cleaning.

I'm not sure if you intend to sell all of this stuff by the lot or if you are open to parting with a few things at a time, but I thought I'd ask if you're open to that.

I'm very open to selling individual items. I'll go ahead and put that front board aside for ya.

bump.

Whoa @RyuX, those are some fantastic looking DMG's! Was the black one originally a clearboy? I'm also really diggin' the snes buttons!

Haha we'll see... But honestly NeX is the man with the plan when it comes to this sort of thing. I found his build blog shortly after a friend introduced me to chiptunes and I was blown away. Ever since then I've been modding almost every day of the week, and I'm always inspired to try new things and push the limit.
