It's funny, i liked chip music before i knew that i liked chip music. In the 3rd grade I had to write an essay about the kind of music i liked and i was young and didnt really like much music, the only music i was exposed to was shitty blues my dad would play and i hated it. so i wrote my paper on the songs i would hear on my gameboy and sega genesis. found out about chiptunes about a year and a half ago. I play guitar and stuff so i figured it be cool... i dont play guitar as much anymore now.

Keep fucking around with it. I can't tell you how many hours I've put into developing new wave channel instruments

Seriously. Wavchan fuckery is very addicting. I've definitely started pushing it further recently. Just take time out to go deep in it.

Oh. And use F commands.

Its not like havent tried and messed with it. just wanted to know if there was some kind of method or something on how you get your sound the way you want. also F commands are like a double edge sword to me, either they work or they dont. like just a second ago all my wave instruments got all screwy (yes i remembered to change the synth screen)

If there's any channel in lsdj im not good with its the wave channel. I have been making that simple square wave bass since i started and im coming to hate it. I know the wave channel can make a whole bunch of sounds, but i just cant seem to work it. for example the song "everybody die" by less<3an (http://less3an.bandcamp.com/track/every-body-die) has so many sounds it blows my mind. Any tips or advice?

the eprom carts have no memory built in, afaik the only carts that will actually save with nanovoice are the official ones oliver put out.  tbh, i don't know if the free ROM (the public one you mention, which is on the prom carts) has the saving part of the code in it, was commented out, its a hardware thing, or what.  there is some nanovoice c source out there, but its an earlier version of the ROM altogether.  i'm guessing it was just commented out, or the ram was accessed in a non-traditional way in the code but doesn't work unless your cart is laid out in a certain way.  if that makes sense.

long story short, the carts are great if you want a (much cheaper) cart devoted to non-memory ROMs, like deathray, muddyGB, musictech, drumtech, etcetcetc...

Now let me get something straight, i downloaded 2 roms of nanovoice, 1 worked (it was 32 kb) and 1 didnt (it was in a 7 kb zip folder). which one is on the cart? also I assumed that it wouldn't save and im fine with that, i have lsdj for that.

EDIT: lol, just tried the "non working" one and i figured out how to use it so both work and i feel dumb

Nanovoice Readme

Is this the version on the eprom? if so im so buying it!

Hey guys, Im lookin to buy one of those eprom carts on kitsch-bent. i want to get nanovoice so i downloaded the public domain rom (is that the free version?) and i cant seem to make any music with it. it just loops the programed sounds. I hit select and the screen goes blank. I also tried out Musictech and it was horribly laggy. have you guys gotten any of these carts? are they good? Just wanna know before i buy.

Hello everybody! I'm new here and have been making chip music for a while now but dont know the first thing about recording. I have a male to male cable but when i record it sound like an explosion when the noise channel kicks in. is there like a high quality chord or do i need a pro sound mod?
