i greatly enjoyed the way only one person said Metallica >:3

clearly the pap they've been putting out for the last however many years can't compare to Kill 'Em All or (my personal favourite) Ride The Lightning. They stand for a moment in time, it would be wrong to ignore them just because of what they've become. I wrote a song about how Metallica have sold out, their whole cycle has been fascinating.

I'm surprised no one has included Body Count yet.

Big Body Count fan here! Not sure if they are one of my top favourite bands though, but I do enjoy them.

Yngwie Malmsteen is also great, but not another of my top favourites.

I remember my first show quite well, we smashed up an Atari ST case and threw it into the audience. I remember using a can of premium strength lager as a prop

MusicMon does have a format with the .MOD extension, but its totally different from a Protracker mod unfortunately

coding maxYMiser was a big struggle. all the GUI/editing feature coding etc was very dull. it took more a less a year of all my spare time to write the first version.

at the time i regretted spending so much effort, but now i don't see it that way and am very happy with the results. i would definitely encourage anyone to write a tracker! but it is more work than it may se.

520STE or 1040STE or MegaSTE got better sound codec PCM. Sounds like AMIGA 500 or AMIGA 600.

Just noticed this.. The DMA sample chip in the STe is still not as good as the one in Amiga sadly. But, yes, its a big improvement.

I have tried it, and it is a bit imprecise, even with plain music.

an SNDH to YM tool doesn't exist as far as I know. It would be perfectly possible to write one, but it would just work with basic tracks without modern special effects.

I used to use MegaST live for a period, actually, I think it is *more* portable than STe because the pizza box form factor is much easier to pack. I used to throw the keyboards into a holdall and take the main units as hand luggage. I only stopped that because I needed DMA. Also the Mega has the floppy on the front so you don't need to have the machines at 90 degrees.

I'm really not a fan of the ,YM format. The only reason to use it these days is theres a web browswer-enabled player for the format. Thats a pretty cool reason I must admit, but for all other uses I would say SNDH is the way to go.

I would say gumtree in the UK.. or ebay.de has loads.

For the chipmusician STe gives an extra chip for DMA sample playback, RCA outputs and also bass/treble adjustment. Its also very easy to upgrade the memory of an STe.

But if you see a really cheap non-E then go for it. Thanks to lobbying by Canadians and Americans maxYMiser will run on a 520.

I see you are based in London like myself, get in touch if you need additional pointers
