Current setup!

The minibrute MIDI controls the C64, which has audio output routing back into Minibrute's filters. The whole output is then sent to the Kaoss Pad and then in the mixer, for recording. Gameboys yet to be implemented.
Out of the picture there's also a guitar tongue

2 Le chip 2 Quit to me is one of the best sounding albums AND album names.

Why not do it in movements. Do both.

I feel the same way, if you really have no idea, try both, not necessairly in the same song.
You can always make a remix of your own song.

"Hackable"

lmao to me it looks like most people who develop "hackable" devices like this are doing it also to lower the production price (and add an appetizer for the "geek" market).
I mean, why paying for plastic shells and assembly if you can just sell your almost spare pcb at the same price and get more units sold?

Anyway, yeah, it pretty much sucks that these toys are getting attention while real trackers/consoles aren't...

... or maybe not. Going big isn't really what I actually would like for the chip scene... I guess cm.o's been talking a lot about it already

Does this count, even as a remix?

Okay, found out something more. Looks like the Travelmate 52x series mounts an "ALi m5451" audio chipset integrated in the laptop southbridge.
Further researches pointed me to think that it most likely works via wavetable emulation. Don't think it's actually worth the money sadly, unless any of you would advice me to go and get it

I guess I'll give a try for the Toshiba Satellite, it's more likely for them to have opl3 synthesis

I got to find online at kind of a fair price these two laptops:

-Toshiba Satellite 2540CDT (which seems to be crashing after the screen that asks you if you want to boot in safe mode, I guess a format or something would make things go back to work)

-Acer TravelMate 529ATXV (perfectly in shape, but stills kind of bugs me the fact that I can't get any info about OPL3 in travelmate laptops... )
CNET suggests that both of them have a soundblaster16 compatibility, but the real question is about the chipset or at least how good would they do perform in music tracking?

Sorry for opening a new topic.. I wasn't sure whether to post in a new one or not...

New model to add:

Compaq Presario 1640.

This one has some neat features:

JBLpro Speakers
Tiny LCD display to monitor battery live and things
MAX ram is only 96 mb, but thats ok.
ESS AUDIODRIVE 1869, which is fully sb16 compatible.
smile

Does the ESS chip ;emulate the OPL or is it a 'real' FM? I've got a 1625 that needs a HD, but had no idea it may be good for AdLib II. I'll have to spend some time sorting it out!

Seconding that question for another ESS chipset... Does anyone know about this?

http://www.cnet.com/products/compaq-arm … ies/specs/

I'm afraid it's too "new" to be part of the full sb16 compatibility era, still CNET claims it has Sb16/pro compatibility.
What I'm specifically interested in, of course, is the ESS Maestro-2E. If anyone knows about it, let me know please! I've found a bunch of these laptops in good conditions on ebay and even if they are a bit pricey they seem to be in an almost perfect shape, also coming with a new power supply.

They'd totally rock if they were good with adlib tracker smile

Okay, I've tried it for a while now and I really dig it and I think I should try to leave some CC there

I really like layering effects and various glitches but sometimes I have a feel that there should be some copy/paste/drag control on the frames to allow a more "precise" glitching or else I feel like I'm just messing around because I'm not really good at it.
You know, like, you have the starting frame which is normal pic and then you add some effects and eventually layer those but then you want to come back to the original frame to add another sequence of frames, so you just "copy" the initial frame and paste it at the end , or maybe you have a frame that you want to place before or after another one, you simply drag it and replace it.

Not meaning to sound cocky, just some feedback tongue
Keep up the good work!

holy crap I NEED this! Love those gifs!

edit: well.... I need it for android, I guess. Or for iPad.. bad luck neutral

edit x2: yes, I'm dumbass, it works! heart

You can't even imagine the children I never had thanks to chipmusic! Best hookup scarecrow ever

Hi there! I've been inactive for a few but finally I have time to release a few tracks I wasn't able to release earlier.

Aaaand, here you go! This is Rainstorm, a brand new track featuring liquid square-waved landscapes and explosive rock riffs, achieved with a piano, a Gameboy and a guitar!

Neon is another track composed with a Commodore 64 and a Nintendo Gameboy, filled of 80s disco and electrodance influences!

At last we have Daydreaming, a shoegazey, dreaming-like chiptune rock track composed with a guitar, a Gameboy and a Commodore 64.

Remember that all tracks are available for FREE with CC BY-NC-SA license!

Thanks everyone for your support!

Despite the fact that in my area the few people who actually seem to be interested in the kind-of-chippy sound don't really appreciate the "TRVE CONSOLE FACTOR", preferring more edm oriented elements and fakebit stuff, I hope that moving to uni will help me getting in touch with the right people.

At least it would be nice to know someone who's a bit (heehee) into chiptune music without having me to make him listen to it.
