I enjoyed this so much. Especially the vocals. Just great.

But how in the world did you make the sampled drums on "Southern Accent" sound so natural? My mind kept trying to tell me it was a real drumkit. :-o

I was just looking for a replacement screen, too! Those are great!

Maybe it's more a matter of people looking for "ecchi" on soundcloud than them sharing this song more than the others?

Looks like they're going for more of a 16-bit aesthetic. Nothing wrong with that.

My nipples are so hard I can't even wear a bra at the moment!

This is BIIIG News! I can't wait to hear what your music sounds like once you finally learn how to make some big_smile
If any other Release hype was made without the artist having any knowledge of composing yet, nobody would ever miss it when it finally came out.

I hope this is real. I'd love to hear what kind of music George has floating around in her head.

So, just for clarification, though, and I just want to make sure this is correct: A two-track single doesn't count as a release, right?

If a person releases a two track single in the Releases section, in anticipation of a full EP, this is considered a hype thread, and is thus bad, right?

I always thought the main reason artists put out singles was to preview and build excitement about an up-coming full release, but that must not be true.

Now, I understood being annoyed by people posting a "mash-up" of short clips of an upcoming release in the Releases section. But actual release of full songs is bad too, if it is associated with an up-coming full EP release.

I'm honestly just trying to make sure I've got everything straight.

Edit: I've actually agreed with the whole "Only Releases in the Releases section" thing. Not with the whole "can't make any post on cm.o stating that a release is coming up", though...

And yes, some people might still be rolling their eyes at that Frostbyte thing.

Oh yeah, that stupid Frostbyte, advertising a web show in the Upcoming Events forum...what a devil!

ftfy
Although, I think "that frostbyte thing" actually refers to yolky faced people mistakenly thinking the web show was being advertised in the "Releases" section, acting all high-and-mighty about it and making snarky comments about it being in the "Releases" section and not being an actual release(even though it was in the "Upcoming Events" section).

I know I'm definitely still rolling my eyes about that. 'twas an online event by which all "unknowns'" online events will be measured, lightly tainted flavored by jumped conclusions, misplaced frustrations, and just plain false information.

Sounds like jealousy(well, maybe not such a strong word... entitlement? Edit: No, that's not the word either... righteous indignation?) over people actually caring enough about unknown artists to post in their "hype" thread and cause it to be bumped. If newbies who listen to the music and post about their excitement over it without being biased by knowing whether the artist is new or a veteran is a sin... then... lot's of people should burn... It's not the artists' fault that people like their music.

Or is it...?

I've seen more "entourage hype" from the vets than ze offending "unknowns". Then again, the vets actually post full releases from the get-go, so that's something...

I just would like to know... before this "Upcoming Releases" thread was created, how were people expected to tell other's about their upcoming releases if not by making a post somewhere on these forums? We don't even get to use sigs (which is probably a good thing, and is very refreshing).

Edit:

His thread wasn't even in the release forum.

Yeah. Several people had scrambled faces over that one. haha. It was in "upcoming events" and was about his release party web-show.

i dont think hes saying it produces no original music or ideas anymore, maybe just that dwelling on these sort of things is counterproductive in regards to creating new and original works

also 9-heart: re-read the topic again.. its "startled" not "started" and peter has been active in this scene since before 95% of the current scene knew shit existed, so i doubt he needs help getting started.. i mean, fucker helped found pulsewave and has played blip (i mean fucker in the nicest way possible smile)

Shoot... I should have posted the rest of what I was going to say about the "self-referential" quality of the scene not being much different from the small amount of chip music that I've heard from the '90s-'00s.

This might be something nice to dwell on...

It might startle you (If the beginning stuff is too chill, at least skip to 5:00)

I believe the main point of 4mat's comment is to assert that much of chiptune as a scene and a culture is digressing into self-referential and stagnant groupthink, and is no longer producing original music or ideas. sad

Ah... yeah... I can see that. I can hear it...

:x

hmmm...What was it... something about '90s break beats...?
