I've heard it a bunch.  You are doing yourself a disservice if you don't pop into this.

Funnily enough, this is not the first time Mark Tinley has talked about chipmusic via sonic state

But yeah, I really like the podcast as well, but hearing them talk about chip in this instance was a little bit rough.  Oh well, different strokes for different folks.

hm?

You get people to send you cat Photos, and you send me a portion of those cat photos.

This was a ham-fisted joke.

Goddang I wish I could afford the filter board.  Someone snatch it up so I can resent you for it.

Other than that, just work on volume control (which every lsdj user needs to do, nobody ever really has it perfect) and practice practice practice. Keep doing what you're doing.

You've got some interesting things going on here, as far as composition goes.  And your sound design is quite enjoyable.  I think you maybe need to work more on bringing the two styles you have going here (the more poppy parts and the more abstract parts)  Also you need to mix more carefully inside of LSDJ.  Your samples sound INCREDIBLY quiet, and that's probably because your pulse and noise channels are too loud (or maybe your custom samples are a little wonky and my ears are off) and I feel like your wav channel could pop a little more.  All around though, interesting programming, just a few little tweaks and I think you'll be making pretty cool stuff smile

His scream is so awful.  I guess it's okay otherwise?  I don't know, I don't like rap of this flavor very much.

We're having an awesome show, featuring Solarbear, Barbeque, and myself playing tunes (with support from some other locals) and Ohhinaifu doing visuals!

We're ringing in the release of Solarbear's new album "Boner Machine", I'm going to release a Single on the same day, and BBQ is just more awesome than you will ever know.

It'll be a great time!

Aviel.  You chip as fuck.  I think your release is particularly interesting because you are using this tool that people have a preconceived notion of (or at least an understanding of how other people make it sound) and you make something new and interesting.  That's what I've always held as the ideal of chip, so BAM.

As far as like... technical aspects of mixing chipsounds and live instruments.  The most important thing I have found is that your drummer basically NEEDS an in-ear feed from the chip part, or at least proper monitoring.  Things can fall apart real quick if the drummer gets lost and the robot keeps playing.

As far as flow goes, yeah, things just kind of end up working out the way they will.

Also, everyone trying to do this should listen to Crying.  They are one of the best at mixing these elements in a cohesive way.
