I´m listening to it right now, there are some very interesting moments. In some parts, it sounds a little bit confusing to my ears and the introduction riff (which you also use near the end) is a little bit repetitive, but the general impression is positive.

Re: is it worth spending time on a song? (121 replies, posted in General Discussion)
Improvisation is a kind of instant composing process. The process in the mind of the musician is the same as the one that occurs when someone composes, but it happens almost instantly. However, a skilled improvisor, spends years learning to improvise, and nearly every improvisation uses elements previously learned that are called at the moment of playing. So improvisation does not take seconds, in fact it takes years to be mastered. I am talking of serious improvisation, of course.

Re: is it worth spending time on a song? (121 replies, posted in General Discussion)
I think that every song is different. But the point should be, at least for me: "Does the song satisfies me?" A reknown jazz guitarist once told me that I should not consider something finished unless I want to listen to it again and again. If this does not happen, I must still work on it.
I found that sometimes I did my best things under a strong pressure, a couple of times I tried the RPMChallenge, and I found the best of me there, because I was extremely focussed on the music. However, it is not possible for me to mantain that state of awareness for more than a month.
Other times I gave roundabouts during lots of times on an idea, til it satisfies me or til I understand that that idea is not good at all.
I think that keywords here should be "self respect" and "respect for your music". Of course, an honest perspective about our music work is necessary. Do you really love what you hear? then it is finished. You don´t like it, just put more work on it.
And of course, your own oppinion is the only one that counts in this process.

I´m hearing this now, "Simple Things" is very beautiful piece, as well as "BonusBossa". I like the way you mix electronic elements with more traditional sounds and moods.
"Ordinary day" reminds me the old games sound. I like the way it begins simple and then elements are added. It is a kind of electronic baroque. Very good one!
Appart from that, congrats on your wedding for you and your wife!

Topic: A couple of tracks (1 replies, posted in Constructive Criticism)
Hi,
I´m posting a couple of tracks I´ve made. I am a musician with some experience in other areas but new in chiptunes.
The first one is a tracker piece I made using TFM Music Maker.

The second one, it a strange experimental thing, and probably it is not a chiptune though it has gameboy sounds. It is a jam using the sequencer of the gameboy camera (witha gameboy advance), an electric bass and an alto saxophone

Advices and constructive critics are welcomed. Thanks in advance

Just listened to both tracks. I find interesting the fact that in both there are non-conventional elements. Probably "Something Summer" is less strange than "Overdrive", but is has also its strange moments, and that´s what I like about them. In overdrive, I like the stops in the middle of the piece. In both cases final of the piece is a little bit abrupt to my ears. But as I said, the non-conventional elements worth the listening.
I read you used to create music using the dodecaphonic system. It would be interesting to create some chipmusic using the Schoenberg system. Of course that won´t hit the charts, but would be musically appealing and a nice experiment.

Hello everybody!
My name is Carlos and I am a musician from Argentina. I play different instruments, mainly alto saxophone and guitar. I love very different kinds of music.
You can here music (not chip) made by me following the links:
http://archive.org/details/SureLikeABone
http://archive.org/details/VacacionesEn oundsAlbum
http://archive.org/details/BizaraLando
http://archive.org/details/LosBarcosSolaresDeRapaNui
The first one is mainly blues-rock, the other three ones are experimental. You can donwload them for free.
Though I heard chip music when I was a teen and had my Commodore 64 (yes, I´m that old!) I´m novice in this field. At that time I found some interesting music software like Kawasaki Rhythm Rocker and Kawasaki Synthesizer. However I didn´t learned to make music with my computer when I was younger. I also have in my memory the music of a game I used to play "Aztec Challenge", that music was great.
Recently, thanks to internet, I begun to found new music made by artists nowadays catching the spirit of those days.
So I decided to join this forum to learn more about it.
I have few experience composing chiptunes, I made a piece with TFM Music Maker and also recorded a jam with the sequencer of the game boy camera plus alto sax and electric bass (wich is not really a chiptune). I´m working on some other things but I´m kind of cheating here as I´m using samples created with vintage computers emulators and a modern score editor, as it is easier for me to write in a partiture than to write in a tracker. But nothing more than these for now.
So I hope that joining this place will be a learning experience for me.
