O2star: strange, I never noticed. It's a good library when it comes to all the ST tech-stuff however, so no need to register wink

Quite surprisingly lately, this ST2SD solution appeared: http://shop.inventronik.de/store/11 working on Falcon & ST.

Thanks Yerz! For webspace, maybe untergrund.net is a suitable solution.

You could try SYSINFO.PRG to check your current specs:
https://sites.google.com/site/stessenti … ls/sysinfo

The latest TOS for ST/E is version 2.06 and it comes in ROM chips. There are also other operating systems, mainly interesting for applications/multitasking. For just using maxymiser or other chip editors any TOS version and also 1 MB RAM should do great. BTW, you will find comprehensive answers on most technical aspects in www.atari-forum.com. It is the biggest English speaking Atari forum and many of your questions should have been discussed there already. So just digg around a bit there maybe. Have fun smile

Hey thanks, definitely going to check this album. Just randomly picked some nice synth pop track smile

Maybe I am missing something, but is there a chance for a download link to a zip archive with all tracks and cover art? Might facilitate the download and spreading. Greetings!

Nice sync to the music, and cool efx of course - so I guess this is Neotracker? And ehm.. are you one of the Karate kids? smile

Theta_Frost: in my opinion, for normal 4 Channel modules its definitely PROTRACKER STE, especially when switchted to 50khz multiplex replay (click on the frequency displayed above the oscilators). It is pretty compatible to Amiga Protracker, just lacking some "modern" commands as some Exx. One thing to know is, that the bpm timing is not 100% correct compared to other replayers. you have to tweak a bit, if you want to use longer exactly synced loops. But its not a really big problem.

OCTALYSER is just as good (up to 8 channels, good interface and functions, even higher command compatibility) - its just matter of taste.

Great that ppl are interested in Atari tracking smile

I see.. hmm, the only option I know is the +/- button below number of channels section on the right. Maybe that makes a difference? The only thing that prevented me from using DBE for more experiments was the fact, that it can only save in DBT-format in this demo. Nonetheless, only the possibility to replay all those formats (even DTM and GTK Falcon formats) rocks, never thought this is technically possible.

Yerzymey and gwEm put it well. STE is optimum and leaves no room for problems: you can upgrade RAM cheaply, have audio & TV out and you can use up to 3xYM + 2xDMA channels as said before. If you are interested in sample-based tracking (like Protracker or Octalyser modules) STE is strongly recommended. Though, you can do that also on normal STF, e.g. Digicomposer and specially Protracker ST are pretty powerful - the only difference to STE is the sound quality.

Alternatively, if you want to stay low cost and go for pure Atari YM-chipmusic only, a pure STF model is a good choice. Several trackers like Insignia/Trisound, MusicMon and maxYMiser support digidrums (aka samples in the nonatari world;) within the 3 channels.

For STF, you will need a monitor connector though if you want to use color screen. In EU, SCART-Adaptors are common. If you have the chance to get a STFM you should prefer that, as it has TV-modulator inclusive and costs as little as STF usually.

Speaking of the models, I realised that most STF models tend to yellow quite a bit, while the newer STFM is staying in bright shape (the eye tracks before the ear!). Might be due to different plastic factories in different years. So much to my theory about this wink

Yerzymey: Did you take a look at DBE-Tracker from Sector One? It is pretty amazing on STE, software mixing up to 32 voices if I remember correctly - you can guess the replay quality though. Anyway, impressive replayer. Also good for checking som PC formats like basic S3M/XMs on STE.

Technially, musicmon modules have nothing in common with Protracker modules except the file extension. Musicmon is a chipmusic tracker while Protracker is sample based.

The extension doesnt' really matter, but it should be 8-bit raw samples, if i remember right (sometimes calles SPL, sometimes SMP etc., however WAV won't work without conversion). Additionally, you can set up some sample format options in the PREFS section of Protracker: signed, unsigned and IFF.

Well, for YM-chiputnes the usual picks MaxYMiser (http://www.preromanbritain.com/maxymiser), Musicmon, Triplex, Sidsound Designer. Download at http://dhs.nu/files.php?t=chipeditor

It could be you have a single-sided external floppy drive. There is SF314 (double-density / 720 kb) and 354 (single density / 360 kb). And fedepede04 is right, if you have normal hd disks, you can use some e.g. tape to cover the left hole to "convert" it to double-density, but for single-density it is rather hopeless. Good luck smile

XyNo: Woohoo..  glad you like it, thank you! Some more compilation is in the pipeline for next year, more Falcon related though smile
