one reason may be that many chip artists generally write short songs (not by any means "most" of them- probably 50% in my observation). like take for instance alex mauer's 9999: 42 tracks, and yet around an hour in length. and honestly the majority of those tracks loop, so it could be half that length. and yet it kind of fitting- the traditional vgm style based on short, to-the-point mood-encompassing phrases which loop.. anyways yea

It'd be cool if you added like a one sentence description about each release underneath the album/artist. It would probably get people clicking more albums once the list fills out more, instead of just overlooking the whole thing. Artists could make their own sentence description when posting their albums in this thread so you don't have to do it.

EXAMPLE:
CHIPNAME "CHIPALBUM"
Generic sentence about genre or method.

cool idea- maybe people should write those descriptions themselves when they link the release here. unless zanzan wants to come up with descriptions for every release, which would be cool too!

it says i pack almost 30kg before the shipping costs would change, so potentially if i found some valuable, lightweight things, it could be worth it!

this is cool! however it said that shipping costs would be 203 euros (for a gbp case).. is this just because i'm in alaska? has anyone else tried this?

thanks Nizzemanden!

I have an online acquaintance (not registered here) who goes by Litis who did some kind of chiptunish sounding album using Modplug Tracker/OpenMPT and VSTs and stuff. I don't think it's supposed to be chiptune, but his music has lot's of chippy sounds (which I didn't appreciate way back when he first released, but do appreciate now). He describes it as moody electronica. He seems to have given up music, and I don't really know if you can find him or whatever, don't know his real name, but he is in Israel. That's about as good as I can give.

Here's the release thread I made for his EP if you want to hear what he was into back in 2007.

cool, thanks! his music reminds me of the music i made before getting into chip music. i'll see if i can track him down some time smile

i have spent the last couple years (my first years in chip music) switching back and forth between different platforms, struggling to finish songs, and never settling on a style. i spent the majority of my 2012 musical life listening to lots and lots of music in the time i would usually spend just trying to crank out songs which i wasn't liking. among many many other wonderful artists, i think alex mauer's music really struck a chord with me and i began to doodle in famitracker trying to figure out some of his sounds.

i have found famitracker to be the most natural platform for me at this stage (tho i do a fair bit of work on lsdj also) and i hope that in 2013 i will be able to come closer to the sound in my head. i hope to have many many conversations with some of the pro musicians here and elsewhere and learn a great deal from them and from their .nsf's. and when i move to jerusalem for good this coming september, i hope that experience brings forth some unique music!
