it's almost time, who else is going to do it this year? i've done it every year but one since 2007, and i've been very happy with most of the albums ive done for it... highly recommend it...

write an album (10 songs or 35 minutes worth of music) and record it in the month of February

i heart back2basics... used it on the first e.s.c. releases from 2001-2003

yes, and im just one dude, no need for plurals in this case wink

or fuck t, if you want to know the people you may think are most elitist aren't bad, i will even talk on the phone with any of you express a concern and pm me... i guess i come off as a dick online, but its really more that i just have no time for bullshit and have learned some lessons over the (sadly) 6  years ive been an admin on here or previously on 8bc... ive had a lot of people say they finally got what im saying after a phone call or hanging out a few hours... those of us you think as harsh or tightassed staff half our valid reasons for thinking that way

if you want more tracks for the comp still, hit me up.. have maybe 40=60 unreleased tracks from last year wasting away on hard drives

yeah last house party spot in chicago became a regular stop for bored cops... and warehouses are pure trouble in the midwest, schizophrenia 4 comes to mind ... there may be some potential in the gallery scene in chicago, but they seem to just have generic djs spin if anything at the openings these days

What i was trying to get was a setup where i only use the computer to record.A simple midi keyboard/pad/controller connected to a gameboy for ease of use and mixing. This would be an alternative(so how much do i need to shell out for this combo.

ok, so if you really wanted to do that.. you can get a Kenton USB MIDI host for about $150, connect your nanokey to the usb port on that, take the midi out port from that and connect to midi in on an arduinoboy, arduinoboy to game boy. as long as you're in the mode on the arduinoboy that will allow you use a midi keyboard to play notes, itll work. but at that point its probably just cheaper to get a midi controller with a traditional din connector and skip the usb host (unless you know you'll use it for other things too)

im too old for that now, but i've always said im more than willing to help if someone else wants to take the initiative and really push again... often they get discouraged pretty quickly when most of the venues they contact don't even take the few seconds to respond and say "no" or are the kind of place that makes you front $200+ of your money to set something up (or take a huge portion of the door, maybe the first $400+).. we also have a shortage of viable all ages venues, which makes trying to get things going much harder, given the average age of listeners and artists... 21 and up shows exclude too many potential fans

oh in chicago we tried for years...just have to admit it wasnt happening after a few too many single digit turnouts

the "environmental" in my name isn't about ecology & saving the planet, its a reference to your surroundings in general... so the whole name is more or less a way of saying "the sound of everything falling apart around you"

its great that you think we even have the ablity to force people to make music the way we'd prefer, but lets be fair: someone not being interested in/being dismissive of work they arent interested in hearing is in no way forcing anyone to do anything... my music has never been very popular within this scene, and ive taken some shit for it off people, but since its the music i want to make i dont let their difference in taste/opinion effect my writing...the difference seems to be (as pointed out earlier) that at some point the scene transitioned from people coming in expecting little to no attention for their work (hell even 8bc had fewer than 600 members in 2007, including inactive accounts, so who was listening) to people who enter with somewhat inflated expectations based on having seen what this scene can be at its largest and grandest scale... sometimes this results in people feeling excluded and like some mysterious "elite" part of the scene is holding them back...

if you ever do... think i'm always going to prefer running it through a headphone out into my mixer & through a compressor over rendering

yes, samples only

first, fiftieth either way.. just always important...

serious advice: use the restroom first... not much fun holding in an urge to piss during your set
