its like LSDJ, but all sample based & 8-channels http://littlegptracker.com/
give it a shot, if youve got an mpc, you're already used to working with samples, right?

Ahh, true..I was recommending that for simplicity, but maybe better to use main out... I haven't noticed any noise on my tape input

use the control room out for your speakers, tape or main out into your recording device, out of recording dvice (probably laptop) into tape in...this way you can always keep your main level set to a nice spot near the middle after you've adjusted your laptop's input, yet still have access to room speaker volume control of what is being recorded/your main mix/the output of your laptop

for all the people who just say a model number (aka 1202 or 802), you should include the brand, since those model numbers are just a description of the number of channels & busses that the mixer has... most companies make 802 & 1202 models

i sell handmade cds (sometimes dvds), give away stickers and either sell buttons very cheap or give them away, depending on my mood

@lazerbeat: switch your speakers to the control room outputs, silly..you'll have your seperate volume control
Edit: sounds like you don't have a vlz3, since you say you don't have headphone out volume either?

well, im sure you can find something you like for well less than $400...
if you don't need a crossfader, mackie has a nice little one with built in effects, the ProFX8
edit: according to the reviews, just skip using the usb functions of it or get good at noise reduction
