caring about music and considering it the focal point of the site are two different things..

Re: Site Request (11 replies, posted in Bugs and Requests)
we used to have a way to follow an individual artist, but someone complained about it, so it was removed...
wouldn't mind seeing that come back, but unlikely that any sort of top tracks, etc will get added...speaking for myself (not sure how the other staff feel), adding the charts on 8bc seemed to have a negative impact on the site and the diversity of tracks uploaded (as in, many people were trying to write that they thought would get on the chart more often than just putting ot whatever they felt like writing)... beyond that, 8bc has thousands of user accounts that were made JUST so people could vote up tracks (either new users who had a friends spam them "hai! vote 4 me lulz!" or in some cases users making dummy accounts to vote themselves up)...

Re: Hardware project ideas (35 replies, posted in Other Hardware)
^ that has mic pre-amps, which cost money to make and take up space, but otherwise its close to what im talking about... figure the size can be reduced but cutting the pre-amps, dropping it to 4 stereo channels from 5, move the input & output jacks (besides headphones) to the rear panel & use knobs instead of sliders for volume... top surface would be down to a 6x4 grid of knobs + a master volume knob & headphone jack, rear panel 10 1/4" jacks and a barrel plug for optional 9v AC adapter

Re: Hardware project ideas (35 replies, posted in Other Hardware)
maybe 3 or 4 channel...
if it had fx send, 3 band eq & headphone send i think most people would be pretty well covered, probably no need for mic preamps or anything of that sort

Re: Hardware project ideas (35 replies, posted in Other Hardware)
so you guys know, the game boy player for the game cube is pretty damn good quality and works just fine for this stuff (and has a link port)
to flesh out the mixer idea: besides fx send, id recommend both a headphone send and per-channel 3 band EQ
edit: nitro mentioned shitwave since it can also be used for visuals
