i personally think that one of the main advantages of chipmusic is the quick turn-around time; being able to write and record a track in a day is HUGE, especially when coming from rock music where an album can commonly take 2+ years to record, edit, mix, master and release.

yeah it's nice so you can get some feedback on where to take a track, but 100% finished?
thats too fast in my opinion. not something thats going to be on a hardcopy release that ya plan on selling.

Most of my tracks (and this is just me) i get the basic foundation worked out in 1 day... then i sit on it for like 2 months and come back to it. lol

hahaha...you dont even want to know how many of my songs that you like have been written in a day or less, logan wink

maybe it's not finished, and you should sit on it, and work on it some more. wink

though counter-point would be to say that it's not that helpful to spend an extra 4 months sitting on a release fine tuning a kick drum sound or just continuously reworking the tracks
i prefer working on things in a condensed time-span, as i feel it helps keep a release feeling focused...but that's me, and i've learned that if i take too logn on an album or ep, pretty soon ive dumped everything i had and started over when i get to a certain point

hmm, ive never kept track on most of my cds for total sales (since i DIY hand-make in batches), but i think "last chance for redemption" sold about 60, which would be the highest for me...downloads, indeed, pretty much cant count 1 to 1 with sales towards indicating how popular a release is, though id say it doesnt count as nothing either...anyone want to decide how many downloads equal a puchase? 20 maybe?
or then again, we can just say "fuck it, who the hell cares"

sadly, the punk bands in chicago at this point are a little close-minded as to other forms of music sad

peter: tell these people about those of us who live in chicago as well? seriously, about the only venue doing underground electronic gigs anymore is hotti biscotti, which last i knew still had a PA consisting of two powered speakers (one half-blown) and a beat to shit behringer eurorack 1202 mixer, which is clearly unacceptable under just about any circumstances...last time i played there i used a guitar amp instead because it sounded better than their PA

oven rake: if youre interested, i know people in south bend, granted turn outs in that area are mixed, but itd be good timing, college students will just be getting back and have no real responsibilites yet...could actually result in a higher turnout than chicago (im a little fed up with chicago's music scene majorly due to people just being unwilling to come out, so most venues that were supportive no longer are: TAKE NOTE OTHER CITIES)

one of these days, i may try and convince/trick someone into letting me play every song that i still have the means to play in one set...though id need food brought to me during it if im playing a 10+ hour set...maybe this idea should be saved for europe smile

im still not sure why id thought the deadline for this was like a week and a half ago, but i was done in time for my (seemingly imaginary) earlier deadline

for the record, sounds like a fairish price considering you only want to do local, might get a little more if youd ship

i wish you luck and suspect you'll have to hit ebay and pay more...they didn't make a ton of these, they retailed for $900-ish to start and they stopped production years ago
a good piece of gear, hope you find one smile
