this thread should have a lazerbeat post in it, where is that guy?

Think my favorite needless genre tag my music ever got was when someone on last.fm had tagged some of my stuff as "apocalyptic chip". Depending on the track(s) it might have been the most accurate too

Probably makes more sense to just leave chipmusic out of it. Running something through a bitcrusher or using a lofi sampler doesn't really have much to do with chip tbh

Saying "thing X is cancelled due to lack of interest", is usually a signal from your own ego to alert you that you are losing interest in said thing. I hear musicians pushing out new work all the time. Is the scene as good as it could be? I dunno, what's that supposed to look like? Make music, consume music, support the musicians you like. Boom, done.

for the events, many of the people who are running them can't afford to lose money on them and venues usually cost money, so in those cases it's legit to eventually cut your loses if you keep ending up in the red. some friends of mine were doing breakcore events roughly quarterly in Chicago, but they were losing hundreds of dollars on each event, so now they're not really doing them anymore. there's no ego or loss of interest really on their parts, they're just adults with jobs that don't pay enough to eat substantial losses on a regular basis. especially since there's a lot of stress involved in organizing anything like that

^ this is sort of why nitro pulled the roms off his site. too many people ran into issues getting it to work with multiple copies at once via arduinoboy... they are still handy though if you have gear which doesn't allow you to change MIDI channels.. i had a synth that was locked to channel 1, so i've used the 11-15 version of the rom for almost everything.. honestly can't even remember if i ever got around to testing 3 copies using the nanoloop usb midi adapter, mostly because it would have been only a test, if i want to use more than 1 game boy for music at a time, i prefer syncing multiple copies of nanoloop personally (like the track i made using 6 game boys)

i don't use any of those and have zero plans to. the reason i said reupload was because i've uploaded it for people numerous times in the past, so having it on my host's server makes sense in the long run, it's only just not there already because they decided that since some of my files weren't linked on pages they host it made sense to delete my entire website recently, so i've just been getting to re-adding things as i can get to it or if it comes up (i need to get to the sample packs soon too)

what year is this? new bit shifter? posts by 10k & sievert (missed you two, btw)?

People need to be more active on an actual forum. Not facebook or some shitty blog that's DICTATED by a few individuals. I admit I tried to go with, and then against thercurrent, and eventually drowned myself. I gave up on the scene. Stopped sharing my music and especially myself on any website. i'm just one dude, but I know that Im not the only one (out of thousands) that reacted this way to the shift of social media. This also does not help; If you were around before 2015 you know what Im rambling about.

i'm still bummed we didn't get to hang when i was in St. Louis last month, but you killed your facebook & i didn't have your number sad

i'll mail you some flesh. do you care who/what it's from?

works fine if you're just going to sample loops and use them in piggy tracker, for example

i have them, can reupload to my website sometime this week.. the host i use now requires me to have every file on the server linked to a webpage or i'd do it right now, just not feeling like throwing anything together in dreamweaver at the moment.. guess i'll build it as a page for all the obscure roms or software i like to use (linking to orig site when possible) for audio & visual stuff

lol I consider it an art piece to submit a long/repetitive/minimalist nanoloop composition every year to the chipwin compilation and have it not get chosen. 3 years running now, it's becoming quite a tradition. Might aim for something 1 hour long next year.

We should follow through on that joke idea for a 2-track, 4+ hr split

I had to completely remove myself from any interaction with them 'cause I'd just end up coming off as an angry asshole. I mean, I am an angry asshole a lot of the time but I'd rather not advertise it. tongue

(shrug) i've been working on more e.s.c. stuff again instead of just d_strct & first of the ninth so i guess i'm doing my part. as to if that means that i'm helping make it more alive as a genre or less so is a matter open to debate
