ESC: that was a mediafire link that I removed by accident and you couldn't even download it, it was a two year old EP that I re-made anyways.

I went to graveyard this because it became about opinions, in which i spoke of nobody directly, but just people are quick to be pretty rude, rather than giving actual insight.
maybe i'm just some stoner hippie kid who thinks mannerisms is important everywhere instead of only in person, it's just how I am.
The fact that I don't like how shitty some people are on a site won't make me not use the site, it'll just make personally want to refrain from being belittled for my efforts, even if i'm not a professional chiptune artist or whatever the formal terminology that's accepted by the general community.
I have no problem sharing my sounds, I'll post a few songs even on here. I just wish I could delete the old songs.

if you aren't sharing the music online, it'll be tough getting people to show up in other places. a local following doesn't always translate

edit: try listening to the variety among the artists posting in this thread, for example

which is to be expected but when someone is trying but they're not trying hard enough, they're quickly shot down.
that's why I try not to post much because of how people can be.

And i'm sharing the music online, just not this site.

why are you releasing music that isn't "on point"?

Because I don't cater to what other chiptune artists want me to sound like wink

@irrlichtproject, if you have synaptic package manager, lmms installs fully through it.
lmms has ALWAYS been native to lmms, you just have to compile it.

lmms has ALWAYS used wine, you just need to check your facts:
https://packages.debian.org/sid/lmms

I simply fished through the site,
and if you're right, then you're right.
it's not a huge deal to me honestly. I just figured it compiled natively being that it's LINUX multimedia studio.
I don't design the software I use, I just use it.

esc, No I didn't ''just start''
i've made chiptune for a couple of years, just this past year I actually started recording what I made.
I have five EP's written at different times between 2010- early 2013 and an album written late 2013.
I just don't release it on here because 75% of the people on this site are extremely arrogant and if you don't sound perfectly on point as them, you're doing it wrong and everything you do is incorrect because everything you write isn't good enough for their ears.

If you get a psp go, it has 16gb built in memory, just run 6.60 PRO B/C (This and other things i say may need to be googled, I'm not explaining the entire process)
then you go over to wololo.net and get some homebrews, or emulators, or just google gpsp and then buy the ROM of LSDJ from Johan, and then you're on your way to making music.
there's also a port of LGPT if you can find some neat samples.

@Kitsch, Not much has changed, there's more of an EDM binge for kids around here, there's tons of warehouse ''Raves'' that always get cancelled because some 15 year old girls trip out on shrooms/molly/acid at the same time and run around in the roads naked.
but, I've played quite a few shows here, different bars, some video game stores let me come in and noodle around with some live LSDJ loops, it's pretty fun. I stay entertained, but there are a few local supporters around that put word in to get me shows, I don't even have to try to book most of them.

@DCannon, Why was it one of your worst shows?

I just tend to see LMMS get trashed on music production websites, although the recent 1.0 release is quite good

It's amazing, especially the sleek look of the ''Metallic'' GUI.
not sure about latency, haven't dwelled much in lmms, just booted up lubuntu yesterday.
Haven't got the chance to tinker.
and they bash it because it's open source and they have to find their own samples to use wink

@Domu, Lubuntu or Xubuntu should be perfect for your machine, I have better specs than you just posted (only slightly better) and lubuntu is FLYING whereas all windows OS's didn't make the cut.
~5 minutes to load google.com

@irrlichtproject, if you have synaptic package manager, lmms installs fully through it.
lmms has ALWAYS been native to linux, you just have to compile it.

distrowatch.com is an awesome site if you do want to test out new linux OS's.

I live in South Carolina, the Charleston area, specifically.
I'm going to be in the process of booking a small 8-15 venue tour within the next year.
Was wondering if anyone in the surrounding area wanted to join in/ maybe even collab.

I'm in the US.
No, I'm interested in other goodies.
you can either pm your offers or display them here

I have both the pss130 and 170 synths up for trade.
the 130 was opened, and the speaker was removed, to make room in the case (even though i had plenty of room in the case anyways) for a 1/4 jack, but the jack is still inside of the case, there is just no speaker in it, so if you have a soldering iron and two strips of wire, you can fix it in a few minutes.
I just couldn't stand it not having an aux out port.

the pss-170 has an aux out and works fine, the highest key on the synth has a chipped piece of plastic so the key bends the opposite way to play the note.
It's odd, but i bought it like that 4 years ago, still works!

I'm open to trading for a gameboy pocket or a NES It would be awesome if someone had a gbp with a backlight though.
but, beggars can't be choosers.

I have a Dreamcast System, it comes with Unreal Tournament, Memory Card, AV cables and power cord.
I do not have a controller, I have one, but the actual part that plugs into the DC doesn't work and the controller is some kind of sentimental, since I personally did cosmetic ''Mods'' to it.

"Prices":
Pss-130 - $15
Pss-170 - $15
Dreamcast - $15
american dollar value, I suppose, but as intended by the title of this posting, I opt to trade.

I'm interested when i get my Ace3DS cart in.
it should only be a matter of a few days.

Hydrogen is awesome for programming chip drums, given you have chip drum samples.
you can import samples by dragging and dropping, I believe.
My band's old computer ran xubuntu and it allowed drag and drop, depends on the flavor of linux.
Anforium, what stigma does lmms have about it?
all i've heard anyone say is that it's a knock off of FL studio and has a slightly shittier performance.
I do notice some latency issues with LMMS right out of the box, but you can noodle around with parts of it to get it to sound good.
(Almost) Anything you need ran on linux, it's not a problem, It will run, you just might have to do some google-ing.
