Totally just painted my last grey shell.  Title says you need a clear shell; I have two clear shells available.  Was going to paint them but haven't yet.

All cool then.  As long as we can still have access to your buttons, screen protectors, and backlights.  Those are the best!

So what are you guy's going to carry now?  Or are you just closing up shop?  Would you share your sources for DIY parts so maybe someone can pick up where you leave off?

It's actually pretty clear as it is.  I thought about biverting it 'cause I have a few chips laying around but I just use this for writing and I have 7 other DMGs to build so I left this one as is and will bivert the others.

I tried that and it didn't work but I read somewhere else that someone used tape somehow to fix it.  Either way, learn from my mistake and take it easy the first time.  It's not a hard install.  Just have to be careful.

Turn the panel so the wires go out the right side of the LCD and trim away the plastic from the shell around the LCD so the wires can pass through unobstructed.  Also, be very careful with the metal pads where the wires connect.  I actually broke my first panel and had to reorder a new one from kitsch (hence the delay).  What I did to be careful was I grabbed the wire with a pair of needle nose pliers near the metal pads and held the connection very straight then bent the wires at the black heat shrink part so it would fit into the shell.  Also, the panel has to be slid all the way over so the side with the wires is touching the side with plastic surrounding the LCD.  then just tape it down to the ribbon cable.

Had this MGB painted yellow on the inside with white buttons for a few years now.  It's my writing machine.  But I just installed the el_dmg kit from kitsch and it came out well.  Accidentally killed a row of pixels but since it's my writing machine and not for sale, I won't try to fix it.  Not the best picture.  The yellow is actually pretty bright.  I all it the banana boy.

Little delay but finally got it installed.  Apparently killed a line of pixels during install but it works and this is my personal writing unit so I don't really care to attempt to fix it.  Sorry about the bad picture.

Wife just came home with the Wii Fit Plus from goodwill that was brand new unopened for $25.  I like using it too...  Bought a box of 19 original DMGs that had a few PILs in it (black, green, yellow, and red) that were all supposedly not working and AS-IS for $5.  Got 18 of them working with simple cleaning and fresh batteries.  It was mostly battery acid corrosion...  And not chip/game related but I got a brand new, unopened Teddie Ruxpin in remarkable condition at a thrift store for $45 and then sold it on eBay for $365.

There's a shop here that sells them for $20 for any original (brick or PIL) and they're "refurbished".  I quote refurbished because they are never refurbished but they work.  I usually have to still clean them. and they do things like glue light grey used screen protectors to PIL shells and they put original DMG buttons with PIL units.  But it's still currently cheaper than eBay.

The tutorial I found says to lift pins 73 and 74 and solder the crystal to those pins (along with a few other parts scavenged from a dead DMG)  The SGB has a slightly faster crystal so I was trying to put in a DMG crystal first.  If it worked (or when I get it working) I will then add a switch for underclocking it.  Hopefully I didn't ruin this SGB.  The SGB boots to its screen but like you said it won't load any carts.

Awesome!  I just tried to install a DMG crystal into a SGB via a tutorial I found but it didn't work.  The SGB boots but any GB cart I put in won't boot.  Any chance you can give me pointers?  Also, would it be possible to put a half clock crystal in on a switch?  That was my original intention when getting a SGB.  I plan to install a link port as well as soon as I get the clock situation worked out.

no smile im just trying to cover my door, and i tohught it would be better to advertise my community rather shity jdm stickers tongue

Well, I'm working on getting some stickers made for my wife's small little website/business thingy.  Maybe I'll throw some stickers your way when those are done.

A friend of mine had a civic hatch that he covered the hood in stickers then clear coated it to protect them and it came out nice.  Then, he smashed it.

I technically use my real middle and last name.  It's just backwards.

Does it have to be chip related?
