Once you're done with the track, send me a PM and I'll give you contact details. If your track exceeds 15MB or you want to submit something lossless I'd prefer you upload it somewhere for me to download. No real restriction on duration of the track, but let's keep it sensible

Re: Generative/Procedural music (49 replies, posted in Collaborations)
I find it interesting/ironic that Themistocles was the first to submit
How so?
I wonder, how much of the music do you want to be procedural? Because, TBH, procedural accents in the music is actually cool as long as it's accompanied by actual composition. Think Planet Boelex, with his little clips, beeps, blups, and glitches that kinda run in the background and add texture. I'm pretty sure he does those procedurally, while the rest is obviously composed.
Hmm, the reason why I started this compo was because it's interesting to see how much influence and control a musician (and in this case, coder) can exercise on sound and structure with his algorithm. So I'd like emphasis on the procedural element(s), but I don't mind a composed structure to frame it. As long as the generative part doesn't vanish into the background, I have no problem with that. I trust the people on this site enough to make a good judgment by themselves

Spain - Chile was cool (the last ten minutes were forgivable if not funny). Chile looks in pretty good shape, and Spain finally played reasonably well that game. First Ro8 game Uruguay - S.Korea was very entertaining. The Koreans were HWAITING pretty gosu until the end, I wanted them to score again because Urguay was walling pretty ugly second half.

Jesus, Brasil vs Portugal was a let-down. So boring the audience even forgot to toot their vuvuzelas. The "small" nations may technically not be on par, but at least they look like they want to play the fucking game.

Re: "Sales figures" for chip releases? (178 replies, posted in General Discussion)
lol, I didn't intend this to become a discussion about the statistical validity of sample groups.
Just for the sake of it: I'd argue that the overlapping group of last.fm users and chipmusic-listeners is bigger than that with Beatles-listeners (or whatever). The bigger the overlap, the more representative the numbers. You can hardly compare major label releases with an internet centered community like chipmusic.
Anyways, the previous discussion was more interesting, so just ignore my contrib

Not really, I know plenty of people who don't have a last.fm account :\
Of course. It's about as representative as TV quotes- still useful for making relative comparisons.

Re: "Sales figures" for chip releases? (178 replies, posted in General Discussion)
I treat chip releases exactly the same way as any other music. I get the mp3s, listen a couple of times, and if I find myself listening enough I buy the physical release, if available. I just like to have something solid in my hands (or shelf). I tend to ignore any releases I can't preview that cost money- the days of blindly buying music are past, and I think not only for me,
It never really occurred to me to charge money for anything I've done. I got some when a 30 second snippet of mine got selected by that Gamestop commercial thingy, but that felt different, more like winning a contest. Dunno, maybe I want to avoid making it feel like a job.
I have no idea about download stats for my music, but last.fm says 270 listeners for Les Chats sur la Lune- which is probably borked due to radio scrobbles.

I watched Paraguay - Kiwis because I thought it would be the more entertaining match, but it turned out pretty bleh. Sad to see New Zealand go, though.
I changed streams fast enough to see crying Italians, probably should have watched that game.

Actually, he had ten secondary goalies with him, so it's not too bad.

Honesty rocks!
If only it wouldn't bite you in the ass so much
I like being honest, and I try to be as much as I can. It's very depressing to watch how dishonesty just seems to have the bigger gross value throughout life. It's so tempting.

I enjoy this WC because so many underdog teams shame the big ones in spirit and play. Go Mexico! Go Kiwis! Go Uruguay! Go Paraguay!
I did a Vuvuzelda in FamiTracker, but it doesn't come near 4mat's SID version.
