I dunno, it's pretty clear from the title but.. I think it's a cover? Also thanks for the nostalgia.

Since they make an effort naming the hardware as something noteworthy that "improves" the original design I sure as heck hope it's NOT just emulation. But then again... hardware is hard lol

I make computer videogame graphics at a game studio.

I like it.

A lot.

OH MAN. I LOVE THIS. big_smile

Really really good job, man!

If you want to "respect" the platform easily without thinking twice about it, get a tracker or somesuch software that lets you work closely with what the soundchips in question actually are able to do.

If you just wanna make music, then do it with FL but know that you're gonna introduce "fake" sounds by putting on any number of modern VSTs to make it sound "more than". (Lately I opt for this. I still use my Game Boy to make lead melodies and stuff but I pump that through some nice VSTs and they sound all spacey lol)

As already suggested in this thread, most people won't care, I'd even mention that your music will never make or break depending on that the hardware is right. Unless you go around telling people you're using a SNES but then you're in reality only using your laptop or whatever. That would be dishonest, obviously. tongue

Wild examples aside, do it. Find out what works. smile Best of luck!

Daaaaamn! this is some crazy stuff!

Sounds amazing, good job! big_smile

* Still working as game effects/3d artist at indie studio.
* Still making electronic/chiptune combo. Not a lot of Gameboy sadly as of late, fell off a little bit for now. But still LSDJ on emu.
* Finally doing effort "re-studying" programming, primarily C++, Python and C#. I should learn a few more languages but uh. Time.
* Finally doing effort studying cyber security/"internet stuff" after YEARS of wanting to but just not doing it.

I feel fine! Hope I can make this last, too- and learn quickly since I feel like I've been a stagnated turd for far too long. I just wanna freaking GO AT LIKE A MILLION MILES AN HOUR AND then crash into a wall without a helmet.

So what exactly got scorched in there? The backlit biverted screen? Is there some way to save the DMG?

If there's smoke there's fire right? Is there some scorch-mark or something in there somewhere? I'd look for that first, components that look sorta wonkoid/crooked/malformed. The capacitors for example. Darkspots on the PCB etc etc.

Troubleshooting that could be pretty freaking hard though but yeah, my non-professional gut-feeling is, check to see if there's any trace at all of distress. (o_o)b

Nooo mentions of Nordloef so far?.. Well Nordloef.

Harder/more banging LSDJ music is hard to find imho. Some of his songs will strip the skin off of your knuckles.

Sorry guys, you're wonderful smile

I thought it was an insightful and well-worded post actually!

Yeah I mean it was essentially: "It can be, but not necessarily." as a tl;dr... smile But yes, it was fine I thought.

And I agree: it is and it isn't. Even if we all came to an understanding that it is or it isn't, that's really only true until the day it is/isn't. As with everything. Scenes change, things pivot, what's punk yesterday may be someone's costume today. wink
