ten minutes right? ~10
(for whatever reason this site's clock, the webradio times, or something isn't lining up, probably a DST thing)
I ordered a cartridge from kitsch-bent and asked them to flash it with LSDj cuz they are nice lads
and, speaking of, our shipment (god willing) will be here by the end of this week. its been a long stay in customs for this guy... sorry for the delay everyone!
its not supposed to be a replica of the originals. its a redesign to maximize internal space (mainly). different.
yeah, the shape isn't the same as Nintendo's in order to provide more internal space for modding, etc. i guess it is sort of pocket-ish from a glance,
questions are no problem, i enjoy answering them! (for the most part, haha)
oh, wait. battlefront 3 confirmation.
yessssssss. i hadn't heard that yet. !!!

hey everybody!
today brings us white & black plastic stuff. been going through the shipment basically all day. i personally really like the cases in these colors, i think you will too. very classy look to them,
http://store.kitsch-bent.com/product/custom-dmg-case
we also got ALL the button types in black & white as well!
http://store.kitsch-bent.com/product/custom-buttons
our NES button mold is done and this is the first big run of them for us. we're including the link port cover and power switch from a DMG style set, because most of you seem to be installing this sort of button set in your DMG anyways,
that's it for now, keep chipping,
matt

thanks for looking!
yeah, black. white, clear, and light grey will be the 'stock' colors, just didn't get to the other two this time
yes, the inverter is a little noisy, i spent a lot of time trying to minimize this (in terms of frequency adjustments, etc, because there is a little leeway with EL tech), but the noise is still there. tbh a lot of this comes from the EL panel itself.
keeping the PCB away from the speaker's magnet would be my first suggestion, apart from that its a little hard to find much room inside the console thats more protected than another. the speaker is a bit of an antenna though, avoiding it is the main thing really. the shrink wrap on the PCBs is to avoid people shocking themselves as easily (even though its not a bad one)
i think that's maybe a distinction about what underage language is. but also maybe my grandmother might not be so squeamish about things like this too
feel free to use the report button (this goes for everyone)! thats why its there, we don't mind at all. if we were to get more than one person reporting that would most likely affect our sense of urgency
that spurs action more than anything, other than outright very plainly abusive language. usually there is a lot of voting/checking behind the scenes before something happens. i'm not sure that word caught our attention. (or we will do anything about it now, tbh...)
edit - yeah, what e.s.c. pretty much
its not an error.
i was just dead tired last night, didn't get pictures done, so i figured i'd wait,
but, yeah, they are there. all the button type, and cases. 'official' announcement coming later today
actually i think ill build in one of those battery meters that shows you the voltage in numbers and put in a 7.4v li po battery.
ohhhh, that sounds neat! post pics if you do it please!
yeah, got back home yesterday and am catching up on orders.
somebody come and do this busy work and i'll get on that! but, in all seriousness, while i was gone i got some things pulled together. and, i've appreciated all the emails/etc so far, people asking me things has given me a direction on what info i should post about it first (what seems most relevant to you guys, i guess). some things i would never have thought to mention because my perspective is so shot from staring at this thing for so long.
you guys are pretty intuitive tbh.
and i'm a slow turtle person and i need to get on this. you're right. too slow.
always love your stuff!
just out of curiosity, are the landscape shots you use from around your part of WA? pretty stellar countryside wherever it is
that soldering iron tip is pretty cool (but its for repairing dead LCD lines due to shoddy ribbon cable connections going to the LCD (the glass), not quite this sort of thing). although i don't see why you couldn't adapt it for this, you might find it less frustrating if you do each point one by one, with a basic conical tip. not sure how the teflon coating will affect the ability to solder either. i'd guess it would prevent the solder from interacting with the iron's tip in some way, but really have no clue about this. its coated to keep it from bonding to the rubber/silicone part i'm assuming.
was just poking about and ran across this guy: http://www.ebay.com/itm/30W-Soldering-I mp;vxp=mtr
its 10% off for the next some hours, and free first class shipping in USA. the other tip you posted seems to be aussie shipping only (at least, no usa shipping). which is fine just noticing. and i think this whole kit is cheaper than the equivalent iron alone from radio shack. the same seller has the tip + silicone kits, without the soldering iron, in their shop too for those of you with an iron that will take the tip. not entirely sure that's actually a silicone part, i think they call it just rubber in the text, but for it to withstand the amount of heat that's penetrating it just a hunch its a silicone part.
seems this is the handheld/home equivalent of the machines which make these sorts of connections in a factory. its basically the same thing, functionally at least. i like how this version can slide along the slilicone strip so you (presumably) don't have to move it each length/step of the way.
but, anyways, i picked up one of these tips with the silicone pressure/heat things and am very anxious to try it now. i've been using a large chisel style solder tip for this sort of repair (dead LCD lines), because the larger surface area, so am thinking this is going to be an epiphany of sorts. thank you soooo much for posting your find, it might even fix the dreaded horizontal lines! new tools are so much fun
