red + green should = orange, so that much is right.

yellow is actually a tricky color to get.  a good true yellow at least, some tvs are RGB+Y for that reason

yeah, that's used to emulate one of the MBC chips, functionall something the same.  it could be a proprietary mapping depending on how the rom was written/compiled but its the same thought process.  just a matter of addressing +256kb sized roms.

the other chip would be interesting to know about,

is it marked?  (edit, see your edit above now!)

ROMs over 256kb need a memory bank controller to work, so alternative ICs (or clones) for that particular IC are very interesting to me.  just for curiosity's sake, or to learn something new about it for the broader community

what are you using for control control?  just turning the colors on/off, or are they variable? (like with a potentiometer)

you'll need to use something that lets you adjust the resistance, like a pot, rather than just doing simple combinations of colors.  doing just the combos will give you those 9 (?) colors, but nothing more.  to get the shades in between, you'd need potentiometers for each color to adjust each colors brightness.

there is an easier way to explain that.  ^ too wordy

if you fuck it up, i'd be interested in taking it off your hands.  for science.

i'd love to uncover that MBC-deal they've got on board...

(no, the cart isn't official)

i have that dev cart now wink

are there any other markings on that PCB to identify it?  anything?

on the front i could only see the little bit of text.

cool find!

the nintendo dev carts are a lot different than this and were made to fit into a certain case for dev carts they used.  not to mention the lack of the PCB identifier text which nintendo always includes on their boards.

almost assuredly under the black epoxy blob there is a clone MBC chip.

^ yes, that was disappointing...

^ this may also be an issue of the dimensions of the part, and not the hole placement.  your switch may have a larger base.

GoingHam, have a part# you're willing to share?

i'm just guessing thats part of the issue because a square/rectangular-bottom part is probably not placed with the bottom oriented diagonally, which leaves two ways it could be placed (just a 90 degree turn).  it would just matter which way you want the switch to flip, left-right or up-down.

a round-bottom part could be turned however you want, just depending on the way you want the switch to flip.
