1) apparently the cart is smart enough to recognize ... this means you don't have to worry about the particular order in which you overwrite/backup the cart (unless all your .SAV files have the same filename).  is this correct?

The point the instructions try and get across is that there are no files, or rather that they exist only in your mind. Matrixisms aside, the filesystem is fake, false, pretend. There are no real files; only the raw contents of the RAM and ROM on the cart.
Consequently, whether you use a new filename or replace the old, the target will be overwritten. It also means that "deleting" a file on the cart has no effect.

2) regardless, i think it'd be helpful for the heaps.txt to explain the filesystem in more detail, by going through the various use cases like the ones mentioned above.  i'm guessing you could provide more elaborate instructions by including it in a firmware update?

You guess correctly. I'll try and address this in the next update, which won't be for a while.

3) the cart sticker looks amazing and everything, but i'm just wondering, were there any discussions on having a half-size drag'n'derp sticker and leaving some extra space for another sticker of the user's choice?

Nope. Sorry.

bryface wrote:

4) any consideration for other cart colours in the future?

Not really. Feel free to peel off the sticker (the vinyl ones are quite durable) and use another case. There may be some special edition carts at some point, but that's by the by.

Anyway, glad you're enjoying the cart. Core mission = success.

#hoopsnakes

is it time for the meme-thread yet? shotgun SHIT BIFTA, in that case.

so pumped! currently ensconced in hostel napping in preparation.

If it wasn't obvious from their titles - big thanks to Abortifacient and cTrix for the rad demo tracks big_smile

No. It was just a freebie bonus demo songs player.

Also, it's not there to prevent you from seeing the data - it's there to prevent you from not buying LSDj wink

It'd be nice if it had a notice in the ROM. And also if it were updated to a newer version. But it's free, so...

so it seems they're loaded with a hacked rom with some demo songs on there. The hacked rom is to prevent you from seeing the data. However, if you replace your save without replacing the rom (because why would I?) it makes me think my data is BROKEN and can't view my files but can play them somehow.

that, my friend, is the official "LSDJ Player".

will in future label it so it shows up as "LSDJPLAYER" or similar.

the cart blinks when power is applied. dodgy cables will cause it to blink repeatedly. you should get precisely one short blink, then a pause. then some longer blinks as your OS reads the partition info etc. off the cart.

also, usb connection status is determined without any data transfer taking place. "unknown device" strongly suggests dodgy connections.

This is with TWO seperate carts btw, so I'm pretty sure they're not defective.

Tried a different cable?

naww, I'm just saying that I'mma drive around in my open top limo throwing them into the raging crowds as topless mermaids gyrate wildly on poles ascending from my velvet-clad ride.

or that, given where i live and how much postage costs, most users are going to get a better deal from a local distributor rather than paying $20+ for shipping.

you'll get your cart, shamwow-bit smile

Okay guys i'm back and ive saved up 800$ so where's the carts?

Hello Shady-Beans! The carts are currently 90% "here in my workroom", and 10% "on a motherf***ing boat somewhere between North America and Australia".

I used the pen trick to open a Gamecube once, but it was a huge pain. It's harder on Gameboy carts, since they have such tiny clearances around the screw head.

I've opened them with side cutters ("diagonal cutters" to you Yanks, I believe) - but you'll definitely damage the cutters if they're nice fine electronic ones designed for cutting copper.

Just buy a bit off eBay if you can't get it locally. It's a bit of a wait, but it's well worth it.
