software or hardware? I know the korg EMX can but it heavily relies on a steady beat

Really? ha small world right? It looks like cdbaby is the way to go then (possible preferential treatment for chipmusicians! haha) But also my friend who is a singer/ songwriter is going to use them sometime soon, she's a geocaching fanatic which brings me to...
@chunter
well i guess you'd have to agree to let them sell it since that's what you want them to do but it's great you retain all the freedom, and i can't believe how well distributed your album is! I suppose more than anything it looks good to be well distributed, means you can whack tons of links on the myspace as I intend to do!

I'll check out tunecore btw, oh and nice band website! really comprehensive and neat.

I SO wish i was there! how awesomely cheesy in a good way. I find it funny how people in the comments are asking for Miku Hatsune to come overseas for a tour haha

This could be useful right?

Vocaloid speech synthesis, best speech/ singing synthesis in THE WORLD (?)

This is my favourite example, using the famous Miku Hatsune Character (Japanese, but there are English characters too)...

I've used TuneCore and CD Baby (for my band not my chip music) and both have worked out great. You retain all the rights so there is nothing to stop you from releasing your music for free after submitting through these companies, or even selling through other avenues.

Wow, that's pretty good, especially if the tracks are available for a while, plus you can link to iTunes from music videos on Youtube.
(ps what's your band!!?) smile

Services like Spotify get their music from major labels such as Sony, EMI, Universal etc.. However they also collect tracks from digital aggregation services such as THESE, now I was wondering if anybody here has any experience using these types of services? I see cdbaby has a Chiptune genre and artists such as 8bitweapon have signed up (presumably) So this means their music is available on iTunes, Napster etc etc... Presumably for a price, of course. (I mean, I've nothing against people making royalties from their work). I wonder if there are legal implications or small print terms that inhibit these artists from releasing these tracks for free? Furthermore, is it even worth the money tosign up for these services?

Discuss...

i'm very interested in this!

I was thinking of replacing batteries before they run out, would that stop data loss? If so, how many hours on the cart would be a good indicator for doing so?

Don't quote me on this, but I think removal of your battery will actually wipe your cart clean:)  Not sure though.  You might want to figure out a way to back your stuff up.  I've heard of carts lasting anywhere from a month to a couple of years.  So, it's like when the cable guy tells you you need to be home between the hours of 9 and 5.

i'll google it. But i backup monthly smile which is a hassle, 3 old carts and 2 bleepbloops, i back up to a file-hosting site in case of a fire!

From the top set i like the blue monster and the one with all the eyes, from the bottom set i like the teeth but my overall favourite is the white DMG shirt with the ooze coming out (second from the right, bottom row). I'd buy one if you chose that one!

promotion is always the bitch, how do you promote stuff without spamming your shit everywhere or creating internet drama to gain attention these days?

True, I guess you have to be really talented and let other people blog you and stuff. The talent part has been a hurdle for me.

Both are good. Facebook would be good for letting friends know what you're up to, and friends make a good root for a fanbase to develop right?
