Have you tested the 7805 with your multi meter?

Just keep testing along the path. There is likely a 7805 regulator that you could test next.

Which SNES is it?

I'll just throw this here. The way I typically clean contacts within a console itself is to find a piece of cardboard, cut it to the same size as a cart circuit board and wet it with Isopropyl. Then I insert and remove it several times.

Can verify

Im old and game is life, so I am predisposed to enjoy the authentic sounds. When I found out people were making original compositions, I had to check it out. Before 8bc, I used to carry around my gameboy and a select few games that had a track-select screen in the options menu. Nothing has changed.

I think you should start with a smaller, simpler project first. You'll develope some skills very rapidly if you make many designs at which point you can take the full shell. Maybe start by designing other real-life items that you can pick up around the house and measure. I think you'll also need some measurement tools like a micrometer/caliper.

Yeah this is an easy solution but kind of annoying fix, because you have to use a hot soldering iron and reconnect the bottom ribbon cable wires by running the iron across and getting it hot enough that it doesn't actually melt the ribbon cable.
