I had a crack at making a 2x LSDJ track, I was a little unsure of how to treat it, so I was a bit hesitant and didn't go over the top with the sound design like I might normally have considered, but any feedback for how to do things in the future, and also 2x LSDJ tips in general, would be greatly appreciated. big_smile

Thanks!

EDIT: It got compressed down to mono somehow, not how I intended... tongue

I recently started having a crack at Megadrive Chiptunes, never made anything decent, but thought: "Damn, you could make some decent stuff with one of these!"

This would be that.

Any ideas? I'm not a huge fan of buying off ebay... So does anyone know of any reliable places to get DMG link cables?
Thanks big_smile

So, a friend of mine has offered for me to borrow his megadrive to make chiptunes, and I'm keen to take up the offer, but it hit me that I really have no idea how... In fact, I'd never seen a megadrive until he offered! hmm
So, I have a few questions, and if you could answer them I would appreciate it heaps! big_smile

1. How does one compose the chiptunes? I've tried out deflemask, and I'm guessing that's the go?!
2. In what format should it be exported? I know NES has .nsf, but no idea for megadrive...
3. How do you get the megadrive to play it?! obviously via an everdrive, but how!??!?
4. Is there a live-friendly way of playing back tunes?
5. FM tips/tutorials anyone?

also, any other tips/advice for running a megadrive would be appreciated! big_smile
Thanks for putting up with my minimal knowledge!

Where I come from, it's hard to find a reasonably priced DMG, and I have found one that would be very cheap, however, the screen is cracked... sad Before I consider buying it, how does one go about fixing a cracked screen? I'm presuming with much difficulty? hmm
Thanks smile

I have an Atari 520 STFm for sale, but I'm in the US.

Yeah, I think the US is a little too far away... tongue and I think a 1040 STe might be preferable. But thanks anyway! big_smile

And I'll make sure to get a mouse, thanks gwEm. tongue

Musicmon looks awesome! Why did I not find this before? Maybe use both?! wink Thanks!
I also heard that ST's had MIDI capabilities? If so, then is there any software that I could use to control MIDI synths using the ST? Because that would be awesome. big_smile

Edit: How do you put programs onto it? Copy on to floppy disk and then put the floppy disk in ST or?

So, I've been inspired by Ultrasyd and Henry Homesweet and just love the sounds they squeeze out of the ST, and I have downloaded STEEM and Maxymiser and had a crack at making chiptunes using the ST so I'm not a total beginner with the software, however...
I'm interested in getting an actual ST and using it, but I have no idea what to do, as I have never owned a computer older than a windows 98... hmm
So, if people could please give me some advice (before I buy one) on:
a) Good places to buy them (I'm guessing ebay? but there might be others)
b) What to look for?
c) Additional hardware/software I may require?
d) General things to know about operating an ST?
e) anything else?

Thanks! big_smile

Even if it isn't, there is room on the market for more than one SD GB flash cart.

Maybe you can do some different things with your design.

What he said. tongue

me too tongue
Yeah, but the course is really aimed at classical music in other instruments (mostly piano, and traditional orchestral instruments). So, for bass you just had to play music that was "really difficult"... wink

Yeah, I play simpler stuff for fun, but the music course I did was really classical based, and the standard they set for bass was really high for some reason... hmm

...way off topic, but anyway tongue haha

Worst guitarist plays bass and/or worst bass player plays drums... ahaha wink
Oh yeah, totally agree with that! Tried learning some Jaco Pastorius pieces for my music exams this year... that was quite a challenge to say the least tongue
