I don't mean to put too much importance on the color of a Gameboy's shell or buttons but thats just the way I see it. I personally own a black PIL, a yellow PIL, two clear PILs, a red PIL, and three greyboys...but they all do the same damn thing.

I like collecting the different colored shells but at the end of the day, they all sound the same.

I mean, the grey one is simply a run of the mill greyboy with an NES pad, pink NES buttons, a darker grey screen cover and PIL start/select buttons. Not that there is anything wrong with a good greyboy, but the clear PILs are much more sought after and collectible.

It all boils down to personal preference and the desired appearance of one's unit. I'd probably take the clear PIL because I currently have two or three greyboys/shells.

EDIT: Punctuation.

Thanks, I've always wondered. It's a small thing, but still...the more you know...

I didn't even notice that at first! If it was intentional, that's a nice touch...if it was accidental, it's a happy little accident.

It's a very sexy DMG I must say...and I have an off topic question...

The tactile feel of things go a long way with me. I've always enjoyed the original GB shells over most because they feel nice and sturdy, the textured finish on them offers a little bit of grip...they just feel solid when assembled. It's probably because I, like many others here, grew up with these machines in our hands for hours on end and have grown accustomed to how they feel...

Do they have a similar feel or are they kind of slick like clear PIL shell, or perhaps a bit of a softer feel like the Kitschboy cases?

Sorry for such a touchy feely question.

That Kirby DMG shell is done now.

I know I've commented on this shell before...but I'm inclined to do it again...I'm usually not one for custom paint jobs like this but there's something about this one that I like. It's probably because it's Kirby. I'm not much of a gamer anymore and I've always liked lighthearted videogames (Kirby, Mario, Animal Crossing).

Very cool things going on here.

After I get moved into my new house and situated I'll be sure to hit you up about maybe getting together in person and getting some mods done. I have a red PIL and a clear PIL I'll need modded...and it'd be cool to meet someone who's quasi-local thats into chip and whatnot.

I hope me buying the clear shells helped though man!

Newly assembled black DMG with 4 LED white backlight and a "Get Fresh!" battery cover. Sadly I haven't been able to use this one much since I'm moving at the end of the month...packing is consuming all of my time and I have had no time for music...

And not to mention, if you're looking to make some extra money...

If you're able to prosound and backlight, I have no problem driving to you to get mods done. I'm one of those that doesn't mod their own gear. I'd put a soldering iron through my screen if you leave me to my own devices.

I've been eyeballing the Speak and Read for about a week now. Does it have similar functions as the Speak and Spell? By that I mean does it have a mode where you press the button and it says the letter? Can you spell words with it?

I'm not as familiar with this model as the Speak and Spell...

Nice one!  Those shells arrived super quick.  Too bad shipping can't always be that fast.

Well, us living an hour away probably helped.

This is probably the exact opposite of my own style but I just learned a lot by looking at this. Your table work is amazing. Thank you for sharing this.
