There will soon be a HTML version of the nlmidi tool that runs in chrome. With buttons and evrything.

holy shit that's awesome

This is just OSX asking for root authentication to run a program. The way around this is to put the word 'sudo' before './nlmidi02'. This will prompt terminal to ask for your password. If you fill it in correctly everything will proceed as normal.

so: just type 'sudo ./nlmidi02 -XXXX' and it will work

I can't vouch for nanoloop not erasing your stuff but 1) backing up is always a good idea. 2) When I updated my nanoloop one from 1.6 to 1.7 nothing got erased. A lot of my song data became unusable/sounded different because of function changes though. Of course, 1.6 to 1.7 was  a pretty big update, so maybe a small update won't change any sounds.

kk, I'll try sudo before the code line!

The N issue might be caused by CPU overload, as you mentioned. In the original gameboy, the noise channel has the lowest priority, sometimes causing noise notes not to trigger at all. I presume that the GBA has a similar functionality and this is causing your problem. On the other hand, the fact that lowering the volume fixes it may point towards another cause.

I'm guessing your wobble time issue is because you put the LFO on free instead of trigger. If I remember correctly, if you put the LFO below the middle is triggered, and the LFO below the middle line is free. Can you confirm if this is the case?

Ah that's probably why I was getting weird stuff. Thanks for the reply!

Hey all!

Sooo this is another issue in the series of issues I'm having with NL tongue

I'm trying to backup my songs to my Mac (I do have a PC, but Mac is where I keep my music stuff).

Here's what I input:
--:~ metatronaut$ cd /Users/metatronaut/Desktop/Nanoloop
--:Nanoloop metatronaut$ ./nlmidi02 -receive overkill.nl2
-bash: ./nlmidi02: Permission denied
--:Nanoloop metatronaut$

It keeps saying that permission is denied, and on the GBA, I input A+B+Up and the bar fills anyways.

Is there something I'm doing wrong?

And second, I'm afraid that if I update my cart to the newest version (2.7.7) that it'll wipe all my data (hence trying to backup).
Will this happen? Or am I completely safe?

Thanks again for putting up with me! tongue

Hey all!

So I've been running into some issues that are getting hard to ignore...

For starters, wobbles in the S channel sound on time, the way I want it when I build the phrase out, but then gets out of sync when I play it in song mode,

And second, some notes (specifically in the N channel) will not play at all, and at very important parts, like a transitional crash.

Is this a known issue? Or might my ROM/cart be somewhat corrupt?

I tried the same song on 2 different systems, (modded DS, and unmodded GBA) and the same spot(s) encounter these problems.

Thanks!

EDIT: It appears that the N channel issues can be fixed by lowering the volume of other instruments or muting a channel. Maybe CPU overload?

OSX has worked for me 9 times out of 10. I would highly recommend using it. I think 2xAA is also making a sync application for 64m carts for mac soon, so stay on the lookout for that...

Nice work dude! big_smile

@Delek Sorry if I'm late to the party, but can you hand draw the waves using a mouse?

The tracker itself looks awesome and (if I'm reading correctly) I like the idea of mixing different soundchips into 1 program!
