Sounds like the batteries or the contrast dial needs to be cleaned. It can be cleaned with a toothbrush, rubbing alcohol and some compressed air or quick, focused mouth blowing.

Sounds like improper solder points. Check to make sure they are properly soldered, there is no bridging and that all the wires are properly attachded to the backlight.

Also try new batteries.
High quality reachargeables work the best, such as "Eneloop" or "EBL".

Pretty much seems like the solder poimts are screwed. Try using a couple of small, white LEDs to light up the light panel itself. They can be wired to the m/b pretty easily.

So if I don't share the same opinion of it, you resort to cheap sarcasm instead of bothering to ask about it or try to figure out why someone has a different opinion.

We value your opinion, but it's not nice if you don't coddle others online. ;-)

I'm not going to say the "T" word cause it's a BS word someone made up to conveniently cover all the myriad of variations of disagreement.
In this case though, I think it was a tad bit more on the disrespectful side, as there are always respectful mannerisms in disagreeing, but I have to respecfully disagree with your method of doing so to the Original Poster, who created the thread to share his enthusiasm and passion for a game which has been, and for far too long I might add, severely underrated in it's genre.

Quite the passionate and in-depth interpretation of such a wonderful game.
Great read!

It will supprt EMS 64M, but only for one of the pages.

Any chance that a firmware update could possibly fix this, or any other workaround..?

Usually gently scrubbing underneath the potentiometer wheel with a toothbrush, rubbing alcohol and then blowing it out with either compressed air or breath while spinning it does the trick for me.
Done this on gb colors and pockets as well.
Maybe give that a try. :-)

Would you happen to be open to trades?
I have lots of extra crap I don't need that maybe you could...

Just finished this up last night and posted on my new subrreddit.
Thought you guys might be a little bored so posting it here as well since I felt it is a decent read, despite not being the best pic-by-pic tut in the world. haha

All the original japanese pokemon games, and final fantasy legends 2+3. Also I found the issue. the guide I followed for installing the backlight was wrong. I was tinkering around and found out the backlight's negetive wire was in the wrong soder. Thanks for the help though!

Good set of games.
Glad you got your issue sorted. :-)

What games did you get...?

What kind of batteries do you use?
I really like Eneloop (1,900 mAh each ) and EBL (2,300 (but a little overestimated) mAh each) rechargeables.

I love the affordability of the EBLs.
$10 shipped for 8 is outstanding.

Hey all, any suggestions on a brand of LOCA that would give me the best results?  There are so many on ebay, but I have no clue one which are the best ones.

I can tell you which ones to avoid.

There's this one with a lime green strip on the side label.
(Can't remember the name.)
That one looks like complete ass, all hazy, cloudy and shitty.

There's this other cheap crap that doesn't even have a brand name, comes in a red tube.
That one sucks balls too.

Man, there's so many crap ones that I lost track and it boggles the mind how most of this crap is even still on the market.

Basically, if you can't find any information or reviews on the loca or the seller, buy with caution!

Ebay is good to read buyer feedback on the seller.
It will show you what they said about a articular item, what the item was, etc.
Maybe that will help you.
