I recently created  an account here.  I will be doing this mod shortly, but am also interested in what is the best option for LOCA is.
I might just take the plunge myself on the Octopus brand, but if you do it before me, please let us know how it turns out. Thanks!

Hi, just tried the octopus glue.
It's easier to use with less spillover but the micro bubbles are even harder to spot.
It looks just as clear as osaka but I got way too many micro bubbles so I wouldn't recommend this brand unless you have an autoclave or something to remove them.

Sucks and I would post pics but it's not even worth it really.

Oh yeah, whoops!
I meant the ems 64 carts.
Sorry, confused them at the time.

Yeah, they'll fit great inside either if you can relocate the battery.

I've fitted mine into 2 variations.
The first was a GBC clear case, which I had to dremmel / sand down the inside so much it about poked thorough the label.

The second one I used a broken Pokemon Crystal cart from ebay.
I tried removing the battery in hopes of placing it higher, but I broke some other shit off and that was a no-go.
But it still functions properly, just lost it's ability to save, which is alright by me 'cause it's loaded up with all GB b/w games anyway and most of them don't save or use passwords. (I.E., megaman, bomberman, super mario land 1, adventure island, etc...)

My advice would be to discover a way to safely move the battery and just pick a nice looking replacement cart and fit the pcb in there.

It may take some time and work, but worth it I think.

Once again, gotta go with the loca brand.

There's way too much crap brands out there on the market and it's not easy to sort through them to get to the better quality ones.
Since Osaka disappeared from ebay, I've been looking for a similar quality brand myself.
It's good to read reviews of a brand first if some are available, but most that are cheap in price are also cheap in quality.

I've got my eye on "Octopus Glue" and "X-factor" right now, but have yet to take the plunge as of yet.

Hello all!

I am selling this used / "broken" lot of DMGs with lots of new / unused accessories.

I no longer have time for customizing / modding DMGs as I am focusing on other things, so thought I would post it here for more exposure and I know you guys love some DMGs.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Game-Boy-DMG-Pa … 347384117?

Prefer to ship in the states.
Selling whole lot for $170 shipped and open to offers.
Thank you for your time. :-)

Anyone ever had this happen?

I used loca (amazon), and it looked great the first few days. After a week the crap on the bottom showed up. It is between the frontlight and the lcd. I couldn't clean it off the front or anything.

After further review, I think that the light panel has been set too high and that the lcd module was sitting too low in the shell case.
Inside the front shell case where the lcd sits, there is a rounded, raised bump.
That would explain the where the extra pressure was coming from.
It's the only thing I can think of that would cause that to occur at the bottom.

A fix for that would be to cut down that raised, plastic bump.
(If it's not already too late.)

What do you think..?

Has anyone attempted to put some kind of anti-reflective material on the front-light? I just modded  one of mine and the screen is hazy, it has bands across it, and the colors are terribly washed out but all of this was expected. I was just hoping the LOCA would alleviate some of it.

What kind of loca did you use?

Yeah, that's what happens when there is too much pressure at a certain point (usually the bottom corners), in this case, along the bottom of the lcd.
Something is pushing too hard against that area.

Questions:
Did you remove the foam off the back of the lcd?
Is there anything that you can identify that is there either right where that spot rests in front of or in back of the light panel/lcd?

I think it could be that the wires should go straight out to the sides, rather than resting on the ribbon cable, or that inside the shell case, the corners need to be trimmed down a little to alleviate some undue stress which is occurring.

Other than that, I would recommend removing the top 2 prongs on the metal shielding to also possibly help alleviate some pressure.

If those pressure marks don't go away in a few days, it will pretty much stay that way, unless you try prying the light panel off gently and reapplying the loca. (or use loca remover...that, I have NOT done)
I have pried one off successfully which had some stretch marks (weak, poor quality loca) then re-applied some top-notch stuff and it worked pretty darn well.

It's like 50ft for 5-6$ one of the products not actually super over priced to pick up in a store.

Oh, I guess I just assumed it was, 'cause I'm such a cheap ass. haha. Sorry.
That is a great price for that much.
Nice!

Single strand 30awg. Can get it in 3 different colors from any radioshack.

Yeah but I'm not gonna drop radioshack money for some modding wire.
A bit overpriced for my needs.
Thank you though.

I use old video cables! I really like VGA and DVI. The have small wire and plenty of it!

Awesome! I think I have a spare from an old laptop. Thanks, I'll give that a try. :-)

I've seen a many console modders use IDE Ribbon cable from old computers. The connectors just pop off and you can peel individual wires off the edge like pull-and-peel licorice. Plenty of it be found in almost any computer more than 6 or 7 years old. IIRC it's usually 28 AWG.

Looks like this:

That's a great idea.
I will have to look into that shortly. :-)

What gauge do you usually use for your soldering projects? I was told AWG30 is standard for soldering PCBs, do you need to go even smaller than that?

Ah, not sure exactly on the gauge.
I think I used to use 20 or 22, but it was too thick.
Now I use a gauge in similar gauge to the wires attached to a back-light or front-light panel.

Could be 30, maybe smaller.
I can't seem to find the gauge for ipod/iphone charging cable wire online, but a similar gauge would be ideal for my needs.

Hello all!
I was pondering this subject and this seems to be a good place to ask.

I was using broken NES flight stick pad wire, then when that ran out, I started using wire from a discarded iphone usb charge cable.
Now, I am almost out again and before I lose my mind, start cutting open random stuff or drop money for some suitable replacement online, was wondering what you guys typically use or recommend. Possibly even which could be found around a gamer's house.
(I have tried a couple of things but they wouldn't do, such as a ps1's a/v cord. No go...)

This would be used for particularly small solder points such as volume pot.
Must be thin for easy routing inside a GBC in multiple locations with a flush closure.

Thank you for your time.

It's about a blood spatter analyst / forensics guy who kills killers.
It was pretty good for the first 3 or 4 seasons or so... (I remember I could have cared less about it until my gf got me into it. Then I got her into gaming, so...haha)
Anyway, what kind of stock consoles are you interested in?

No worries.
We're not going anywhere. :-)

Looks pretty amazing. Kind of reminds me of what a "Dexter" game boy might look like.
I am pretty confident that it would take in an easy $100 on ebay as it looks better than most for sale on there.
Great job.
I am envisioning a similar deco'd one but with lime green (as in predator) blood.
That excites me for some reason. :-)
